Norse Ambiance

Steampunk Writing Ambience

Here are a few of my favourite ambient mixes for writing steampunk!

Submerge yourself into a grimy, 19th Century London train station, complete with whirring steam trains, the grand station clock ticking and a pleasant Bach violin duet.

Welcome to the Imperial Capital! Where a man is entitled to the sweat of his own brow. Theoretically. 

You cannot escape the ticking. The ancient grandfather clock ticks in the parlour, chiming midnight. There are clocks in the walls too, gears clicking and steam hissing, strange eldritch mechanisms groaning in the lonely night. You look around, and though there is no one else in sight, you're not alone.

And what a city it was. It rose up into the steam-filled air, at least five stories tall. Metal chutes and frames and ladders and hundreds of chimneys belching rich plumes of steam. Copper and brass and silver, as far as the eye could see.

Gressenheller University audio atmosphere

A small university set in London, Gressenheller is better known for its most famous academic, Professor Hershel Layton. The Professor's door is always open to those with a puzzle in hand, and as such, noise from the corr...

Do it. It has a list of different sounds that makes your day so much more relaxing. You can study easier, fall aslep quicker, meditate, etc. It has like rainfall or flowing creeks and such. It has sounds that make you actually feel like you’re in the car with the Winchesters, or in the Shire with Bilbo, or the Hogwart’s Library, etc.

Sounds that make you cry because you’re not a fictional character who can actually experience these things.

Do it. Seriously, I’m doing you guys a favor. It feels like a warm hug. 

P.S.: If you listen to the right noises while reading fanfiction [ie-Read SPN fanfic while listening to paper rustling and car motors running], everything will be okay. That’s a promise.
