DEERHUNTER // "MONOMANIA"

Few would expect Deerhunter, one of the least likely bands to emerge from the city of Atlanta, are back with a scathing title-track from their upcoming sixth LP Monomania.

Halcyon Digest was a record rooted in abandonment, loneliness and death. The crux being a tribute to the late Jay Reatard in He Would Have Laughed. Monomania, has taken all of that, eaten it, and shat it back out into a thorny pile. This song is much darker than anything on the previous album leaving us to beg the question: has Deerhunter surpassed the melancholy and progressed to full-blown madness? As we eagerly await the rest of Monomania, we're kept in the dark, guessing, trying to decipher exactly where Bradford Cox has taken us now.
