Jamie xx - All Under One Roof Raving New tune from prodigal beatmaker - don't let it slip by. Hoping we get an album sometime soon!
Pop off to this candy-coated juke-house remix of Ocarina's Strehlow by Bail3y. Complex enough for endless listens, fun enough to dance to on the first go.
i covered spring awakening music festival in chicago over the weekend. prepare for some articles, interviews (Borgore and Candyland), and photos in the next few days here and on EDM Sauce.
Lone's new album is streaming on SoundCloud: Lone, a UK producer who hangs with the 1-800-Dinosaur crew, makes instrumental dance music; his sound is fast paced and shimmering. His tracks tent to feel light and connected to a larger sonic universe where glittering reptiles push up riverbeds through neon stands of plant life, glowing and glassy-eyed fish swim deep underwater through chasms that pulse and reflect their inhabitants' bio-luminescence. His new album takes some more modern and club-centric twists - therse a greater influence on classic house dropped into this batch of songs, and it works. The sounds of 80s dreamscape synths and future garage rhythms are always ever-present in his work, too. Give it a listen.
French psychedelic rock, mixed by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. so expect drums high in the mix, plenty of delay, and slow attack on the vocals. Yeah its great, just listen already.
i feel like this quiz is going to tell me i am basic
and if i knew what a scooped bagel was id probably like it
The world is mostly basic and its fine that way
Huge collection of downtempo, sample heavy mixes from Ta-Ku!
Somehow, Seablaze created a sunny juke tune.
Its been far too long since I've heard anything from 123MRK. This French producer makes bouncy dance tracks that live somewhere between house and funk. Listen for the breathy synths (you'll understand once you hear them) and longingly muttered samples. They become mysterious percussive elements that give his tracks much of their life. And according to this post on SoundCloud, he was just signed to Future Classic. Cheers to more good music!
This track has warm keyboards drenched in reverb and delay - its probably the most pleasant thing you'll hear today. If you like this, check out more from limalo. I'd even suggest using it as the perfect musical frame for a rainy afternoon
Incredibly catchy use of samples and keyboard patches that seemingly were retired two decades ago. But here we are! http://fogpak.bandcamp.com
Since hearing Sisyphus (the collab between Sufjan Stevens, Serengeti, and Son Lux) I've been making my way through Son Lux's music. His style isn't one I'm immediately drawn to, but his ability as a performer and choices as a writer keep drawing me into more of his work. I also can't figure out whats going on with his voice.
SBTRKT released his latest EP about a month ago. The release was accompanied by a stream on a pretty website. In case you missed it, check out "Resolute". One of my favorites from the EP does a great job bridging his older matier and harmonic approach with the densely layering and quick pace of the Transitions EP. http://transitions.sbtrkt.com
Great Dane reworks a sample from my favorite anime action flick soundtrack. The result is a patchwork of brooding keys, sparse drums and that chanting echo. A bright synth enters towards the end of the song to release tension. It won't blow your mind, but its not a bad listen either. Soundcloud info says its part of another project, so heres to hoping for a remixed Akira soundtrack (via Bartkira).
Really nice mix from Job Hopkins for your Sunday afternoon. Or for anytime, really. If you read this, you know I'm always psyched on Bibio and Sigur Ros, so this mix scores extra points with me. I found it surprising to hear such a vocal heavy mix from Hopkins, though it makes sense. Bibio - Cherry Blossom Road Carol Anne McGowan - When The Night Comes Falling (Diamond Mine section) Evenings - Babe Glasser - Plane Temp Lali Puna - Faking The Books King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Bats In The Attic Jonsi & Alex - Boy 1904 (Diamond Mine section) Bibio - Great Are The Piths
