I saw this post probably a week ago and have been sitting on it:

the notes were full of people arguing, telling fat people to "not be so sensitive" while we politely requested not be be compared to the grotesque...

the only punchline here is "they can't find beauty in fat people so why would they find beauty in the grotesque..." like...

it's not about fat people not being able to take a joke--it's that we've faced this our entire lives and are used to the bullying and being the punchline of a joke, but would prefer NOT to be.

I dislike cringe culture so much. Like just enjoy what you enjoy and don’t put others down for enjoying their own things?????? So many people on the internet are afraid of being “cringe” and it’s so sad, like as long as what you’re doing isn’t hurting anyone else, it’s cool! do what you want!

go buy a shirt or something that has to do with a fandom or interest. Post any kind of fanfic. Draw yourself in your favorite book, game, movie or with your favorite character. Make theories and fan games. Talk about your interests! Find other people who like those interests too!

Have interests and hobbies and be in fandoms and don’t be ashamed.

I turned off the notifs for my low energy food positivity post a while back so I was checking the notes.

There’s so many people who needed to hear it and then there’s this:

Yes this person had a lurker profile and I blocked them immediately but if you’ve never heard these terms and it doesn’t apply to you—

I know some people are having beef with Barbie being "surface level feminism" but. I think the level of inclusion and treating fat/trans/poc characters as normal and positive is something we haven't seen before on screen.

And sometimes. You need to have fun. And sometimes you need to be reminded of the beauty of the world. Have it acknowledged that being a woman IS hard. Be told that old age is beautiful. That creating is an act of love.

Of course there's always room to improve, but what did get made was an enjoyable piece of cinema where people can see themselves reflected and included.

there's nothing quite like hearing my coworkers bash Turning Red without even watching it or learning about the director...

"I heard it was so BAD, it's CRINGE, the main character isn't INTERESTING, I have NO INTEREST IN SEEING IT"

Maybe it wasn't made for you then and maybe you should educate yourselves on creators and animation instead of thinking you're the arbiters of taste...
