I stumbled on this short. It's an awesome proof of concept for a possible movie/TV show called Mosaic. (ht to @settiai).
Summary:
A distraught Japanese talent manager hires Detective Takanori Tokudome and her assistants to find a missing supermodel. Upon conducting an initial investigation, they learned the model disappeared after a photo session with a photographer named Wakita at a rental photo studio not far from her home. She went back home after the photoshoot and disappeared on her way. Footage from the rental studio's security camera showed her exiting the building. After discovering the model's handbag at the bottom of a local river, the detectives stumble upon a strange discrepancy with the photographer's account.
Mosaic Street is a Japanese/English crime drama set in a near-future Japan where diversity is already a norm. It is made to advocate diversity in the Japanese film/TV industries where minority actors have virtually no representation. Starring openly transgender actress Kota Ishijima, openly lesbian actress Ami Ide, and Afro-Japanese actress Ema Grace.
