Well, it’s about time for this
I’ve been putting off posting anything on here for quite some time. I repost things, of course, but otherwise, I keep my voice to a minimum. I often feel like it is hard to connect with people, even though it’s easiest for me to communicate in some form of a message. Lets get this started, shall we?
I haven’t updated my profile, but I’m 32. I’m a 32 year old woman, with an incredible toddler, but I also have a few other things going on. Firstly? I am mentally ill and I struggle with it daily. The pandemic is not helping at all, but, thankfully, I am medicated. I’m doing the best that I can.
Secondly, I am a practicing witch, but I’m solitary in my practice. I would also call myself an eclectic witch because a lot of what I do are a mixture of a lot of different things. I do a bit of green witchery, moon witchery, and kitchen witchery to name a few. I am also a polytheist. I strongly feel that it isn’t my place to tell someone that their Deity doesn’t exist, because for that person that believes in whatever energy, entity or Deity that they are working with? They exist because of them believing them as much as they do. However, in my cobbled together Craft, there are things that absolutely refuse to engage in. For example, those who are born into something, raised in a teaching, and it is in their family blood? That is not mine to trespass into. That means things like Haitian Voodoo, Santeria (I’ll expand on this one in particular later), and many, many others.
Santeria is something I have always been curious about, but I refuse to even begin to traverse that line. The reason I am saying that is I am a mixed person. I am half latina, and I’m also half white. That being said, I grew up mostly with my white side of the family, and anything that I have learned about my latina culture is from doing interest research, or from friends. My latin family has made it a point to live a life that is purely American. So I don’t know much of my family’s culture, I don’t know really anyone other than the immediately family I visited once a month in the summer and on Christmas. I could very well have blood ties to Santeria, I honestly don’t know, but I also feel like it would be a slap in the face to anyone who is a practitioner of this beautiful craft. I was raised by my mostly white family, which means that I view me trying to learn that as cultural appropriation.
That was a bit long winded, but I appreciate it if you managed to read this far. I feel like I’m being a little too awkward, but I’m trying to push myself past those limits a smidge to try to connect with the community around me.
Thirdly and lastly, I work with the Goddess of Witches, Hecate. I really enjoy working with Her, and listening to the lessons She tries to bestow on me (sometimes I am stubborn though, and that results in not so fun things, but a lesson will be learned regardless). She is wonderful, amazing, and beautiful, but She is also incredibly powerful, and not to be trifled with. We have a mutual respect for one another, and I cherish the relationship in which we share. I don’t worship her, but I am devoted to her, which is completely different. She guides me where She thinks it is best that I go, and it is my choice whether I heed her advice, or not. I try to do as many offerings as I can, but there are times in which my anxiety and depression make it hard to do much of anything. So She is patient, up to a point. Then it’s a swift kick in the butt that makes me realize I need to step up a bit more.
I’m still actively learning. It’s something that will never stop in anyone's’ Craft in my opinion. I enjoy reading, and I do that has often as I can, and the same goes with cross-stitching. I have an eldery pup that I live for, and a husband that I adore. But as for this... I think this will be it for the time being. I will try to post more when I work up the courage to. Until then? Merry meet, and brightest of blessings to everyone.
