Wondering where I’ve been all day?
I made myself a yippee! And you can too! Here’s my pattern!
Head:
6 sc in mr
2. Inc (12)
3. Sc, Inc (18)
4. 2 sc, Inc (24)
5-8. Sc (24)
Place safety eyes or embroidery between rows 6-7, 6 spaces apart
9. 2 sc, dec (18)
10. Sc, dec (12)
11. Dec (6)
Fasten of, leave bottom open and a long tail for sewing. Stuff. I ended mine on row 10, as I made this pattern as I went along. You may decrease only to ten if you want it to look like mine, but I’d love to see what a row 11 Yippee looks like!
Body:
4 sc in mr
2. Inc (8)
3. Sc, Inc (12)
4. 2 sc, Inc (16)
5-9. Sc (16)
10. 2 sc, Dec (12)
11. Sc, Dec (8)
Stuff body at this row, as it is really hard to stuff on row 12
12. Dec (4)
Close off, and pull tail into the body to secure.
Legs (make 4x):
3 sc in mr
Sc (3)
Inc (6)
Sc, Inc (9)
Sc (9)
Sc, Dec (6)
Fasten off, leave top open with a long tail and stuff
Sewing/ mouth embroidery:
Embroider the mouth between rows 8-9 in the gap between the eyes. The mouth should measure three spaces, and I would suggest at least two layers for proper 0-0. The head should be sewn on top of the body between the body rows 3-8. I would suggest a two space gap between the legs and the head. Attach the front legs between rows 3-5, and the hind legs between rows 9-11. The legs will naturally come out curved at the top, and this was intended! Try to match the curve at the top of the legs to the curve of the body, as this will help the Yippee to stand on its own.
Congratulations folks! You have officially made yourself a quadrupedal companion! To be honest, I kinda made this up as I went along. But the tism called, and I needed a whimsical creature in my life. Frankly, we all need some rizzism from the tism! So go forth and get crafty! Make an army of confetti-clad Yippees! Make each and every single one of them their own personal wardrobe, like the dapper specimens they are! Yippee!!!
