The gold in the tomb is pure, so only for those with a pure heart.
Actually the most tragic romance is hoa is Amneris x Tutankhamun. Like from the few mentions of their story that we got from canon are:
Amneris was Tutankhamun lover
She stole the Cup from the Gods
She hid it in the Pharaoh' tomb
So its heavily implied that Amneris stole the Cup and said reason had something to do with Tutankhamun (terminal illness, selfish greed, idiots in love, is for you to decide)
