Counter point, it was poorly written, and had Fabian stayed in character, and had Nina been allowed by the writers to try just the tiniest bit harder to communicate with him, it would have never happened.

And, in my opinion, the handful of enjoyable drama and scenes it added to the narrative was outweighed by how much it made me want to strangle both Fabian and the writers.

No, i do agree with you; it's poorly written and it had overstayed its welcome by a longshot and that's why it feels so frustrating to watch as a viewer. It doesn't help that Fabian looses all his brain cells when talking to either nina and/or joy. My complaint was over people who think that the love triangle shouldn't have existed in the first place, which is a take i don't agree with because it undercuts joy's character arc in that season.

it really would be so interesting to see a world in which nina never went looking for the cup of ankh and/or patricia never went looking for joy. the adults wouldn’t have been able to build the cup, because they literally had one piece of it and the wrong chosen one. rufus would have still been poking around, and he might have still approached patricia and jerome, but if they believed the teachers, they wouldn’t be so keen to help this creepy guy. so ostensibly, the adults would have just let joy come back to school after the fact like “damn, part of our lives’ work went down the drain.” joy wouldn’t have said anything about what she’d experienced, most likely, because who tf would believe her?

nina also wouldn’t know anything about the fact she was the chosen one, but maybe little stuff would start happening around her once sarah died. and with no cup of ankh, there’s no senkhara to release, and so nobody is finding the way into the tunnels for the mask or otherwise. eddie would show up and it would all be very normal. maybe eric would tell his son he was the osirian in this scenario at some point, but it’s unlikely

the only thing that would still happen is victor and sweet trying to reawaken robert, with “harriet” denby. kt would pull up talking crazy about a key and a great evil, and everyone would probably be like “hmm okay good luck with that?”

maybe nina or Eddie would have an inexplicable tug to help her, but maybe not since neither of them has had any chance to develop their powers (and rufus would also still be alive and the active osirian). the descendants wouldn’t be resisting the ceremony bc why would they? robert would probs wake up evil, and legit everyone would be cooked as hell.

So after disappearing for like 7 months, I come bearing gifts. This fic has been in the works for two years, and (to the suprise of no one) it took me longer than it should've. I blame my perfectionism.

Anyway...

Piper pulls the Ace of Spades, which often symbolizes a love story reaching its end, but Alfie guesses that she pulled the Ten of Hearts, which traditionally symbolizes a fulfilling relationship in which both parties mutually respect and understand one another, and in Piper’s last scene, where she recognizes Alfie for his talent and meets him on his level, she holds up the Ten of Hearts to him that he gave to her, and she’s wearing a shirt covered in black hearts that kinda look like spades, and Alfie’s wearing a red shirt, and—

Alfie and Joy likely live the longest out of all of the kids. Alfie DID have a swig of the real elixir, Nurse Delia just faked the results.

And Joy was brought back from the dead by a Tear of Gold, that had to have increased her longevity, at least a bit.

So, I'm reasonably certain I have been repeatedly on record as saying that I do not like how the writers wrote Nina out.

I don't like/believe the chosen one & osirian can't be together. I don't like how Nina told fucking no one except Eddie. I don't like how she ghosted everyone.

My favorite theory/fanfic idea involves evil demon cultists kidnapping her and being responsible for the bullshit*.

I could be convinced that Nina left to take care of her gran who got ill (again). I could also be convinced that she left in a misguided effort to protect her friends from herself (since being the chosen one is a curse and all).

But the not telling anyone and ghosting everyone is much harder for me to accept (assuming no evil cult demons or what have you).

The only thing I can think of to make it not feel fully wrong is that Nina didn't warn anyone and cut them all off is so that they couldn't talk her out of it/talk her into coming back. But even then, I don't like it.

*Eddie (as the Osirian) doesn't figure out anything is wrong because A), he's an idiot and B) Nina's life isn't actually in danger, she's still going to suffer, a lot, but she won't be dying

I fully agree. Nina is pragmatic not callous, and the only justifiable - in canon reason - that she didn't say anything at all was because if she did, she was afraid she would drag Sibuna in whatever mess she involved in.

While I do think Nina staying back for her gran because of her declining health would've been a nice way to send her off the show, it wouldn't have made sense in the way she was actually written out of the show. After all, staying behind because economics reasons/taking care of a family member isn't some big grand secret that you don't tell friends about.

The only way I see it going exactly as canon ( where Nina disappears without saying anything at all) is that she was involved in something dangerous, or as you said was being hunted down by a cult, and if she said something she was afraid ( justfiably so) that Sibuna would come and try to find her, falling into the danger themselves.

So, i do think, in Nina's mind she was "doing the right thing" and "keeping her friends safe" after all it wouldn't be too ooc of Nina to think so, because she didn't say jack shit to Sibuna about Senkhara* until it was too late and they were all cursed. * FYI: i don't fully blame her for keeping it a secret as long as she did, even if it was a misguided and (frankly) short sighted way of protecting them.

A missed opportunity for Mr. Fucked-Up-Frobisher-Smythe was a house of mirrors type tunnel task. Like swap out the fear tunnel for a hall of mirrors that reflects not just you, but your worst fears…? Yikes.

Mabian has a lot of potential as a ship aka they are literally made for the "academic rivals" trope.

Imagine this:

Mara's studying hard, pulling all nighters, driving joy&kt insane by forcing them to quiz her on everything thrice. Asking her professors all manners of question on what they are going to be tested on.

She feels quite confident she aced it.

And then... she comes second place.

To Fabian Rutter.

She would be seething in the background, meanwhile Fabian has no idea.

He's running on two hours of sleep, he drinks 10 cups of tea/coffee just to keep himself awake, and most of his time in class is spent trying to solve a clue for whatever treasure Frobisher hid in that goddamn house 90 years ago.

That exam was a one time thing, because he hyperfixated on the subject in elementary school idk.

And she gets wierdly competitive which in turns stokes Fabian competitiveness and it goes on form there. Like full on one-sided rivarly that blows to full on rivarly and then idk... romance stuff happens.

There’s someone on the subreddit who hates Eddie because he’s the Osirian, but loves Nina because she’s the Chosen One, and I fear I simply don’t follow the logic

Was talking with my dad about the fact that it never rains in House of Anubis, despite taking place in England of all place. And he suggested that the School is enchanted to match Egypt, where it doesn't rain.
