🌾Didymium spongiosum, or the dog sick slime mold (lat. Didymium spongiosum) is a representative of large multinucleated amoeboid cells. Until 2023, it was considered a "mobile" fungus, but it has now been classified under the Amoebozoa — a large group of protozoans. Its common name is "semolina porridge" due to its similar appearance.
Didymium spongiosum do not cause any harm in gardens, as their diet includes bacteria, unicellular algae, fungal spores, single-celled fungi, and microscopic organisms🦠

my friend found a stick and we discovered that it was covered with slime mold! it was very exciting to find something that we had learned about last semester & it was also pretty to look at, even if the sporocarps are tiny irl they have a beautiful metallic color
