The desert feels like home.
It's arid and hot and sweaty but, well, he's used to that. It beads up under his collar and runs down his temple as the sun beats relentlessly down on the two of them. Just one sun here, though. Still glaringly bright, so he's glad he brought his sunglasses along.
He could almost convince himself they were back on that desert planet if it weren't for the singular sun and the brittle shrubbery scattered across the badlands. A vulture shrieks high above, circling, clearly taking note of some dead or dying creature to swoop in on. But Wolfwood isn't worried about that.
Dog hunkers down close to the ground, huffing out smoke through his nose, digging its claws into the dirt. Wolfwood squats down right beside him, one hand on his spine with his other hand brings a cigarette to his lips to take a drag.
"Do you really think," Wolfwood drawls, waving the cigarette lazily through the air, "We'll be able to fight this thing?"
Well, they've fought a whole lot of weird people. So maybe it's possible. Plus, they have these monsters at their side. That little feathery weirdo that accompanies his big feathery weirdo might somehow be of use, too. In some way.
The sand shifts under his feet. Wolfwood frowns. Dog growls.
"Our chances ain't lookin' good, Spikey."
