“ well, well, well....fancy seein’ you here. ” nina had made her way through the crowd at klub kiss and stepped towards the familiar figure, though it could be entirely possible that she’d mistaken them for someone else; truth to be told, she was kinda hammered. “ — are you also here on weekday night to escape this dreaded holiday? ”

today was his first day at the florists, at least, the first official day where he was supposed to actually start helping the customers as opposed to sitting in the back and observing what went on in the shop. it was nervewracking really, if only because devon wasn’t quite sure of who was going to walk in and whether or not they’d recognise him as the kid that went off the rails and got banged up for several years. but this was his chance to redeem himself so when the first customer walked in, he was quick to hop up from the counter to greet them, though perhaps a little too quickly as he knocked over one of the plants on display, soil and petals scattering everywhere. “well fuck, you can tell it’s my first day, can’t you?” @amorestart
Every day when you worked in a school was a whirlwind. You had the cadence of school bells and your rotating classes, but for the fifty-odd minutes she was with her students, time just melted away. Before she knew it, the day was over and she needed a coffee (or three) to avoid crawling into bed by three pm. Elementary school had been her calling, seeing the world through a child’s eyes as they started to master the little things made her excited about the world all over again. And she dove right in, getting at their level and helping them out... which sometimes ended up with mess that she didn’t even notice until hours later. Like right now. As she looked at her faint reflection the back of the espresso machine while waiting for her drink, she was quite sure there was a blob of blue paint in her hair that didn’t belong. Glancing over at the other waiting, she gave a beseeching smile, “Be honest, do I have a giant glob of paint in my hair? Or am I seeing things in my reflection?” @amorestart

“look, if you’re coming in to yell at me for taking away the pumpkin flavored goodies, then you can just leave now i’ve heard it a billion times today that i’m a monster for taking away my chai pumpkin marshmallow inspired cupcakes and it nearly made me cry.” juni said with a little pout on her face. “but if you’re here to be a doll and sample some christmas flavors... i’m happy to serve.” she said with a light laugh to follow her words.
if johan wasn’t at home then you could safely assume that he was at the aquarium; it seemed even on the days he wasn’t working, he’d find himself just sat in front of the glass, watching as fish and other sea creatures peacefully swum by without a care in the world. his favourite was to sit beneath the shark walkway, the glass ceiling a fantastic opportunity to watch as the sand tiger sharks would gracefully swim above and over your head. it was whilst sat on the floor there that he spotted someone looking puzzled, so he carefully stood himself and gave them a tap on the shoulder, “they’re incredible, aren’t they?” he said, “they look so menacing with their teeth like that, but are such a docile species.” @amorestart
“I prefer not to take song requests.” Niko was blunt, sliding the drink of choice to the patron before him and offering only a flat expression in exchange. He’d worked at Cupid’s Chokehold for more time than he could really care to calculate and they’d always run songs of choice for patrons, which got steadily harder to stomach as they became more inebriated. He’d rather avoid that entirely, instead letting the bar cycle through songs on a predetermined playlist (by himself) on the nights that he tended to the customers. “If I actually have to listen to Cupid’s Chokehold one more time, I’m going to personally find the Gym Class Heroes and slap them for making it.” With a finger pointed at the regular who’d almost suggested it, he turned to the next patron - pressed his palms flat onto the counter, and shifted his weight to his other leg in habit. “What can I get you.”

He could feel the caffeine working its magic through his body. Aleks liked to imagine that it was opening each of the little capillaries in his brain and tickling that very brain into waking up, releasing the chokehold on his veins that the headache forming there really was, if he gave it a moment or two of imagination. The first sips were better than solving a case (an arguable fact, depending on the day) and it kept him from being anything remotely moody (not that he ever was - maybe a little short, from time to time). But the holiday season was over with just New Years left to chase up the end, as it always did, and the rush of misery was quickly lifting itself off of his chest. With coffee in hand, Aleksander actually offered a pleasant smile as he plopped himself down in his seat and stole another swallow of aforementioned beverage before he opened his mouth to start becoming sociable.
“Did you have a nice holiday, then?”
