Chapter 5: Winning bet, Losing Mind

It was the Day of Derby at Honey Hills Down. This event doesn’t feel bored like other events as it involves less nobles and more horses.
Liam was waiting for me in his tent. “Hey, what’s up”.
“Race is about to start” he replied looking at the race course. It's time when we place bets for our favorite horses. Since, this year is Liam’s Social season, the event was included in it. Hah! This is going to be my favorite part of this social season.
“So, which one are you going to mark?” He quirked his brows.
“Marabelle’s dream. You?” I grinned.
“Twilight-Dash is my favorite” he pointed his finger towards horse.
Spending time in stables is one of my favorite past times. I knew which horse is doing well. I was confident.
“You’re going to lose this time” he teased me. “But we still have time before you lose”
Suddenly Olivia appeared in the tent “Hey Li” she kissed him in cheek.
Urg I rolled my eyes “I’ll be back” I left them alone.
We all know from childhood that Olivia is head over heels for Liam. Like he took care of me, he took care of her too since childhood. However, Olivia and I never get along well. She is somehow used to jealous of our friendship. When we did our boy’s stuff and play games, she tried to get involved. She hated me due to my closeness with Liam. However, how much we don’t go along well, Liam was never partial with any of us. He cared for Olivia as well. Up to this point, it seems like Olivia has better chances of winning than any others. God, I am going to hate her as queen. But I know she loves Liam and is strong enough to be queen beside him. Though she lacks at the kindness part.
I decided to take a look around. Then I saw Riley walking towards the stable. Why the hell is she going to the stable? This girl!! I followed her and it’s when I heard a horse neighing and door slamming. I entered stable immediately. The horse was about to barrel right towards her. I saw her frozen there. She seemed horrified. The horse was about to charged towards her and she fell down on the stack of hay.
I acted quickly and jumped between the horse and her. “Whoa there!” I gently pulled the horse’s head down and caressed his mane. “Nothing to worry about big fella. Get back.” The horse retreats and I lead him towards his stall.
She was still horrified. I went to her and offered her my hand “C’mon, get up, he has gone. Are you Okay?”.
“Yes. Thanks for saving me” she smiled weakly and took my hand. It’s like jolt of electricity from head to toe. I shivered inside. Shit. I noticed she wore a light-colored dress with hat. Fuck, she’s is beautiful . She doesn’t wear lots of makeup like other women around here. I like her loose hair with some curls…Umm. Stay calm. At least, now I know why was horse behaving like that. She must have touched him too.
“Saving You, Hah I was trying to save the horse” Again I talked like an asshole.
“Oh Drake, you are so charming? Can you please behave some less rude with me” she growled at me “What are you doing here by the way?”.
Oh man. “I…” I ran my hand through hair. This is my act of hiding nervousness. “Liam told me to look out for keeping you out of trouble.” I lied instantly. Her eyes widened. “Yeah, you are new here, that’s why and he’s concerned” I tried to make up.
“Really?” blush creeped up her cheek. Oh no! where is this going?
“But I am lost” she pouted “Max told me to look for the pink tents”
“Maxwell is colorblind. Its white tents that you should be looking for. I’ll lead you there” I can’t leave this girl on her own. Otherwise she will get herself into some more trouble.
I left her near white tent. She turned around “Thanks for saving me and say my thanks to Liam too”. Before I say anything, she walked away. I looked at her going. Couldn’t I say just a single nice thing to her? I didn’t even say “you’re welcome” or “it’s nothing”. I am becoming less civilized these days. I turned back and walked towards Liam’s tent.
Finally, Marabelle’s dream and I won bet against Liam with a reward of Drink’ Party.
