Coll is still holding Amphineme's scarf, and she holds out her palm, demanding its return. He attempts to bargain for some of the water, but she says she is bound only to give water to the Zithers. She may give it to those the Zithers has asked, but not without proof.
Coll agrees to give her the scarf if she kills the werewolf. She drops the werewolf against the ground, to the leaders protests. Coll tells the leader to make him an offer to call her off. The leader attempts to threaten Coll, Coll has Amphineme drop the other werewolf again. The leader then offers the "back half of the promise", giving the DeZithers a week's grace period to deliver the swords they owe the moon clan, so the water would maintain its power for that time. The lady confirms that this could be necessary.
Lenora tacks on the condition that the werewolves not threaten the party or their mounts, which the werewolf leader agrees to. Amphineme wants an apology from the werewolves, which Coll demands. The leader (Arusz) comes up and apologizes. At Mildred's prompting, he even rolls over and bares his belly to Amphineme. She thanks Coll and accepts Arusz's apology.
Coll returns her shawl; she kisses him on the forhead, and returns to her fountain happy. The other werewolf is released. Lenora asks them who promised them swords, and the werewolves call out "Darius DeZither".
The party produces the letter from the Countess DeZither charging them to procure the water for her.
The nereid Amphineme is happy to help the party gather the water into barrels. She asks Ceridwen to find her new acolytes to tend the temple, and either teases or flirts with Coll.
