Volunteer Opportunity
Greetings! We are looking for creative, community-minded individuals to help out with a volunteer-powered organization. The Bloomington Writing Project (BWP) has been continuously operating since January 2012, and we seek to cultivate an engaged community of writers in Bloomington. We help adults working on personal, non-coursework related writing--anything from creative work to business writing. We offer two primary services to Bloomington residents:
Free consultations at Boxcar Books, Tuesdays from 3:30 to 6:30
Free writing lessons for intermediate-level English language learners, Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 at the VITAL office in the Monroe County Public Library.
We are looking for people to help with writing lessons, consultations, and leadership responsibilities. What does it take? Creativity, interest in reading and writing, a commitment to thoughtful dialogue, and a passion for community engagement. You can choose a level of commitment that suits your schedule--anywhere from 3 to 12 hours per month. Want to get on board? Fill out a volunteer application, and join us for our fall orientation meeting! You are welcome to join us on Tuesday, August 20 from 5-7 pm at 410 W. Kirkwood (Sacred Heart) for pizza and conversation. We will be orienting new volunteers, planning our fall schedule, and sharing best practices for our community teaching and tutoring services. Please take a look at the attached flyer for more details. For additional information, you can visit our website at bloomingtonwritingproject.org. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, email Sarah at [email protected] or [email protected].
Thanks for considering this opportunity! Sarah
