I actually had some trouble with this because while my headcanons for James and Sirius as POC have their own distinctive form, the idea of Remus as a person of colour is more flexible for me. But I’m 100% behind interpreting all my fave characters as POC. The more the merrier!
Assuming I am considering a canon-compliant Welsh birth for Hope Howell, I can see her parents being Arab Christian immigrants, perhaps from Syria. Given the political situation in Syria in the earlier half of the century, it makes perfect sense for her parents to want to have her elsewhere, and British occupation in Syria gives Hope’s family a link to the UK. I really adore the idea of Howell being an Anglicization of the given name Hilal, which could be Hope’s father’s name but due to naming customs was recorded as her last name.
Aside from the similar sounds, Hilal means “Crescent moon” in Arabic and it wouldn’t be a reference to Remus “Werewolf McWerewolf” Lupin without mentioning the moon.
