1. Blankets (preferably in a soft nest). As many as possible. Especially when it's cold.

2. The beach or being at sea. I kinda combined two here but that would be my perfect day. Beach day and then a few hours on a Sunfish before sunset.

3. Star Wars never fails to cheer me up. Obi wan Kenobi is good for my mental health bro. Fiction in general makes me happy. Maybe that's why I like writing?

4. Ballet. Hands down. Every time I take class my mood goes up. Grande Allegro is my fav.

5. Playing piano. I went to school for music and writing and. Piano is part of my soul. It's especially relaxing when I can sit and play when it's raining outside and I can kinda half watch through the window. (I also adore teaching piano but it's less relaxing hehe)

Hey June! One of my OCs is a half-Filipino, half-Japanese man who grew up in America. Is there any way I can write him being connected to the Filipino side of his culture in small ways?

note: i’m full filipino, so if any half-filipinos have anything to add, feel welcome!!

idk what honorifics they use in japan or if your ocs have those take precedence, but in the philippines, you call your older sisters “Ate” and your older brothers “Kuya”, you can attach a nickname after it if you have multiple older sisters or brothers (sadly there aren’t any nonbinary options i know of). It’s not seen as formal or anything, it feels weird if you don’t do it, the only time you wouldn’t is if you were with non-filipino friends who you didn’t feel comfortable showing your “filipinoness” with. For other filipino relatives, “Lolo” means grandpa, “Lola” means grandma, “Tita” means aunt, and “Tito” means uncle, and you can attach nicknames as you’d do in english.

have them eat rice at home. like, tons of rice. you can put anything with rice if you try hard enough. a ricecooker is a necessity. this works even better bc he’s also half-japanese and i think rice is a staple there too

a little bit of tagalog goes a long way! you don’t need your character to be fluent, mostly the fil-ams i know know curse words and the words for things like poop and butt ngl (“tae” is poop and “puet” is butt btw). oh and “na” means “now”, attach that to the end of an imperative sentence for the native tagalog spice. and “ano” basically is the equivalent of “um” or “like” for native speakers. and “anak” is an endearment term for a child (and also literally translates to “child”). but most native tagalog speakers also know english bc that’s taught in schools and it’s an official language of the ph so don’t worry about language too much

filipinos are really, really superstitious. i could list the most random shit off the top of my head like “the wind blowing the branches of a dead tree west means you’ll make a bad business deal” and i bet you there’s some filipino that believes that. ok that’s an exaggeration but only a little bit. coins on windowsills invite riches, eating noodles on birthdays and new year’s symbolize long life, and falling asleep with wet hair makes you go blind

this is only half a tip but do americans actually wear jeans and stuff at home even when you aren’t going out? do you stay in your outside clothes all day after school? why? it could be just a tv show thing but if not that makes no sense pajamas are so much comfier. anyway filipinos don’t do that we have separate clothes for outside and home and i hope americans do that too

ohhh i feel you, my favorite color is definitely red and everyone knows it lmaoo i dye my hair bright red and have a lot of red things :) i couldn't tell you why but it's just a bright, fun color. also joker fictive go brrrrr

spider lily is a good choice 🙂‍↕️ ive always loved lilys of any kind honestly. also maybe weird but im a big fan of dandilions! theyre a sign of spring and life coming back after the winter, and ive always loved wishing on one when they get to the puffbsll stage

I get that, life has been cruel lately I think for a lot of people TwT hopefully The Fog leaves you alone soon, but the heat likes to prolong that stuff a lot sadly (at least it does for me, does the heat do the same thing for you?)

I'm glad your building has ac, at this point it would be dangerous if it didn't! The heat has been extraordinarily brutal and it's driving me insane. As much as I try to stay polite, I absolutely am on the same boat. The heat makes me very frustrated and agitated and it does not help in any way whatsoever in being polite (fortunately or unfortunately I rarely ever interact with others). Freezies I believe you can still have once your wisdom teeth are out so that should help! But please stay cool over the weekend. This sort of weather is both ridiculous and legitimately dangerous (and only fuels me more to kill all ai data centres because they are actively making literally destroy society in multiple ways and the planet! The rich folks advertising AI as the future make Shido look like a puppy in comparison)

If you can you can find umbrellas for pretty cheap sometimes, they aren't going to be the best for UV protection (mine's a little shitty one) but it's at the very least some extra shade, and that's enough to make a huge difference when it's "the sun is actively wanting you to die" level heat out -_- otherwise there's fancier UV certified protective umbrellas you can buy online too

If it helps I got my wisdom teeth out a while back and it isn't too bad? I'm not particularly prone to feeling any effects of medication (aka I'm horrendous at the whole "being drugged" thing) but the actual procedure isn't too bad. You feel pain for a while afterwards but as long as you take painkillers and be careful with what you consume it shouldn't be too bad? Not sure about any side effects of the medication, for mine I had both sedative pills and as much laughing gas as they could give me and I was fully awake and conscious the entire time and the worst part is the noise and feeling what's going on (they numb your gums but, at least for me, I can still feel stuff just without the associated pain?). It's not the worst, but could be bad if you have a fear of dentists?

I can respect your dedication to red! I'm working on amassing a larger collection of red items, but I don't buy things often in general so it's slow going. Red hair is very Joker coded🙂‍↕️

Red spider lilies are a big favourite of mine for symbolism, but dandelions are a wonderful flower to have as a favourite! They're hugely important for the ecosystem and majority of the plant is edible if you're willing to harvest them. The roots you can dry to make a tea or a coffee-like substance out of, the leaves can be used for salads, the flowers (when golden) can be used to make a different tasting tea and I believe if you gather them at the right time and the right quantity you can make dandelion honey out of it? They're a very happy flower and it's always bothered me how people treat them like a weed or something hideous (I've never understood that perspective, to be honest). Has any of the wishes you've made on them come true?

I am going to complain for a moment. I. Hate. The. Heat. So. Much. There is not enough words in the english language to describe how viscerally it. While I am grateful for my apartment it does not have central AC and the air conditioner I do have can only handle cooling one singular room. That one room (living room + temporary bedroom aka the couch) is staying somewhat cool but the rest of my apartment is growing increasingly hotter (26°C last I checked). Which is nothing to say of the stupid heat outside!! It peaked at 46°C out today!! 46!! That's only a few degrees off from halfway to boiling!! Yes that was the feels-like including humidity, but still! That's absurd!!

If there was a god of weather I would kill them! I would kill them a thousand times over! You can join me on killing them if I ever track down such a being if you want. I hate hot weather so much but I hate the people that act like this is all normal or even are happy about everything being so hot almost as much because they're the same assholes that'll keep pushing for more shit that'll make the weather get even more unbearable. also hot weather makes me feel genuinely sick and it's not very fun

Thank you for the cool air ^u^ I hope the heat wave isn't as bad where you are at the very least? What temperatures is it reaching there? I would offer cool air myself but my poor air conditioner is struggling terribly, I'll offer you a freezie instead if that helps, a whole box of them even! Please stay cool and drink lots of water! If I'm forced to go outside I've taken to bringing a sun-umbrella with me, perhaps that could help you too?

hmm that's a hard question, my favourite tends to change? The colours I find most pleasing to look at are the range between cool-toned greens and turquoise and certain blues. My favourite colour-for-a-reason though would be red or black, they're a lot more pop-out and interesting to me! I think as a colour combination I like them the most because they feel more applicable, they're iconic, and they align with my favourite flower (red spider lily)!
