David Tennant, Meera Syal, Eddie Marsan and More Join Star-Studded Cast of Tim Crouch’s ‘An Oak Tree’ Revival at Young Vic (EXCLUSIVE)

David Tennant and Meera Syal have joined the roster of guest artists for Tim Crouch's groundbreaking play 'An Oak Tree.'

"The unique theatrical experiment, which pioneered the concept of the “cold-read,” features a different guest performer in every show who has neither seen nor read the play before stepping on stage. The production, presented by Olivier Award-winning Francesca Moody Productions (behind global hits “Fleabag” and “Baby Reindeer”) in association with the Young Vic, marks two decades since the play’s debut.

In keeping with the production’s tradition, each guest artist will only be revealed to audiences as they step onto the stage on the night of their performance.

Written, performed and co-directed by Crouch, the play tells the story of a father who loses his daughter in a car accident. The driver responsible turns out to be a stage hypnotist, and the two men meet when the father volunteers for the hypnotist’s act. Since its 2005 premiere, over 350 different guest artists have appeared in the production across 19 countries, including Frances McDormand, Geoffrey Rush, Sharon D Clarke, Alanis Morrissette, Sophie Okonedo and Peter Dinklage.

“An Oak Tree” is directed by Tim Crouch, Karl James and Andy Smith, with music by Peter Gill. It runs at London’s Young Vic theater May 6-24."
