Retrospect
my teeth made poetry out of your neck.
you were mine
before i was yours.
streetlamp seduction, all pixelated -
and the way your eyes please.
i knew your soul the second i first saw you.
you weren’t prey
but my god you knew how to act like it.
all wrists and big promises.
you were mine, mine, mine.
are mine - always will be.
black skies and stars. on your knees
because you spoke my language -
and you needed me.
we were feral.
do they know your secrets?
do they lean into your ear and whisper
all the right things or
do you still picture
my face?
we were both starving animals
but fuck we were in love, weren’t we?
we’d have eaten each other alive
if i had stayed.
but it’s un-erasable.
and i know you still wouldn’t dare
to call her by my name.
