End of Semester
Date//Time: Monday December 8th, 2014//3:30-6:10
Completed final animation over the weekend, and came in today to complete self evaluation and the demo reel. Everything is currently on the teachers drive and finished.
Titled: I'm really bad at updating but I'm really good at saving my work
Date//Time: The last few days (between friday 11/28, and right now this moment 12/1)//current time is 12:17 AM
General Overall Reflection: Okay so every time I stopped working for the day or took breaks I would forget to update with my progress so here this is, me updating my progress. Things have been extremely slow going much to my dismay, mostly because of technical issues and just general distracted-ness that happens around holidays and being home with my two much younger than me siblings and the dog and parents breathing down neck yada yada.
Overall the environment just wasn't suitable for working, but besides that, flash just refused to cooperate even after I looked up tutorials to double and triple check I was doing the right things, so I ended up having to do a lot of the animations that would have been fixed with tweens by hand which was just slow and painstaking. On top of that, my tablet wire has been persnickety for a while now and with not having a suitable place to work, it would turn my tablet connection on and off at will disrupting my work, and on occasion messing up my work as the pen reconnects with the program.
On the actual work in itself, I have fully completed one animal sequence (which could be elongated if need be) and plan on cutting one of the animals from the final so that it can be done on time. I will proceed as planned with just one less piece of the animation and can lengthen it in other ways if the situation arises. I plan to be completely done with the animation before class on Wednesday 12/3 and will be able to start (and hopefully finish) post production work then, and be ready for presentations that following Monday.
Class
Date//Time: Monday November 24th, 2014//3:30-6:10 PM
Reflection: A lot of time today was spent in process and trying to figure out a seamless way of working in the pup from a shadow form to a real running dog. I'm still working through some of the kinks, but I'm hoping over break I can get most of the animation completed, and can move onto the post production bits for the last few classes before it is all due.
It's taking a bit more time than I had originally planned, but I don't think it would be a problem to work on during break, especially because I won't be doing much. If I can maybe I could even finish some work on the train home. We'll see how much I get done
Final
Date//Time: Wednesday November 19th, 2014//3:30-6:10 PM
Reflection: spent a good portion of class trying to upload videos into flash because of the new software I could not transfer the files into FLV until I switched to Media Encoder CC, and then was able to upload FLV file into Flash 2014 to start working. Officially began rotoscoping today, and got a few seconds in. Plan to spend most of the weekend working on this and illustration, after work. hoping to at least finish pup portion this weekend to move on to the next animal. Thanksgiving break will be spent doing this.
Date//Time: Monday November 17th, 2014//3:30-6:10 PM
Reflection: Spent most of class working on completing my animatic (above). It's a very sketch-y version that isn't really caught up with the times of how long the actual final will be. I worked on the title opening, and it is about 3 seconds long, so that portion of the animatic is wrong in itself, but everything will be extended and put to music once it's all done. Animatics in general tend to bore me because I want to move onto the final quickly and have as much time to work on it as I can, but Wednesday in class I plan on beginning the opening rotoscope for the final project and really power through that.
I saved all of the videos I need so that everything is set and ready, it just needs to be put together.
Storyboard for Final, titled: Shadow Movements
Final Project
Date//Time: Wednesday November 12th, 2014//3:30-6:10 PM
Reflection: Spent most of class doing pre-production work, creating the storyboard, finding music, and finding videos to use for the animal motions that need to be created. Next step: clean up storyboard (can finish before class ends) and create own videos for the shadow animals. Begin animating over the weekend (including title sequence and start rotoscoping shadow movements of dog)
PROJECT PROPOSAL FOR FINAL
Date//Time: Monday November 10th, 2014//4:04 PM
CONCEPT: working with relationships between what seems and what is through use of shadow puppets turning into the actual animals. hardest part will be seamlessly creating the transitions, but I can figure that out in the storyboard process and making sure it flows smoothly. I want to start with a small child making them, and then cut to the actual rotoscope, but I think that will be something I go back and add if I have extra time at the end. My idea goes with sort of childhood imagination as well, so I think it would help to have it in, but would not hurt to disregard if the rotoscoping goes smoothly.
TOOLS: videos from youtube or videos I have made to rotoscope the animals and images, along with flash and other adobe programs. filming roommate doing shadow puppets, or self, last resort is finding youtube videos of it all
TASK LIST: [link] also shared with Blyth on google doc. broken up through dates of class and things that should be done on the date of class that it ends on
PRODUCTION AND PRESENTATION NEEDS: none needed as of right now, and I don't believe there will be any need other than projector
THIS IS ALL DUE TO BE FINISHED ON MONDAY DECEMBER 8TH, 2014
EDIT: also written down in notebook to keep track of what is done and what isn't on task list
