Thanks very much everyone for attending our #4 event. It ruled. No question, it was the best one yet. We are very grateful to have the attention of so many cool and thoughtful people. Thanks for keeping on coming to Anacortes and making our town feel even more special.
For now there are no more plans. Totally blank horizon. We will enjoy hanging out in this void for as long as possible before the inevitable rising waters of inspiration compel us to make new plans. Or maybe not.
VOLUNTEER MEETING, Wed. July 16th 2014 !
The Anacortes Unknown Music Series needs a hand! We are having a volunteer meeting on Wednesday July 16th 2014 at 4:30PM at the Unknown (1202 B 7th St., Anacortes, WA - upstairs). Volunteer spots are first come first served, signing up for two or more spots grants you access to all shows (except the dinner show - which is sold out) as well as much gratitude from us (we usually give you a shirt).
If you are an Anacortes teen, a person traveling, or just really into having a task whenever you find yourself in a social context, come on down!

It has been a dream of ours for a long time to include more cartoonists in the festival. We are announcing with pleasure and pride that the dinner presentation this year will be made by none other than Anders Nilsen.
Artist and cartoonist Anders Nilsen will present a slide reading from his book Rage of Poseidon. The book is a collection of short pieces following popular polytheist deities, tweaking their stories and setting them in the present day. Nilsen distills these familiar stories' individual moments in stark and delicate silhouettes of black and white. He immerses us seamlessly in a world where gods and humans are more alike than not, finding the humor and sympathy in their (and our) desperation. Anders Nilsen is the award winning author of Big Questions, Rage of Poseidon, The End and Dogs and Water among other works. His comics have been translated into numerous languages and his drawing and painting has been shown internationally. He is also an occasional educator and curator. He lives in Minneapolis.
Anders hasn't been to the Pacific Northwest for a few years, this will be a rare chance to meet him and here him speak.

We just met with the folks at Hogstone's on Orcas Island to discuss the dinner plans for this July's festival and we are beyond thrilled. It is going to be locally sourced and delicious (and legit). Everyone will pump their fists in the air.
There aren't many full passes left, so get yours now before they are sold out. (This is the only way to get to the Dinner Show on Saturday, July 19th.)
