Red eyes narrow to slits. So much time has passed, and yet -- nothing has changed. Immediately back to this. Circling and circling Maria and her legacy like hawks vying over truth and what it means. Shadow turns away from his anti-component, quills bobbing in the wind. He lets his eyes close so he doesn't immediately give into impulse and start a fight. Sanctum does not understand, will never understand, the things that Maria went through on this planet...and that is a terrible sin Shadow can't let slide for someone who lives in this world. For Shadow, as this world's protector, he who fights for someone who was taken too young, Maria's wish going misunderstood is perhaps his greatest fear. However. That doesn't change another truth: Sanctum's world is not Shadow's world.

"Your mistake is bringing her up to me again. Unless you really wish to be punched in the jaw--again." A hiss of a threat that doubles as a reminder of their fight long since past. Some things never change. "Why are you even here. Or did you really come all this way between Zones to be punched. Sanctum."

   oh ? isn't this interesting. a familiar face, vaguely, yet not at all — and someone with a lot of nerve, that's for sure. initially, there's no reaction to sudden threat affection. ruby spirals are simply locked onto sanctum / not quite confused, not quite offended / consider his interest piqued.

   what an odd energy he can feel radiating off him. equally as familiar, yet not.

   without any warning, fleetway's whole demeanor shifts — what was once considerably relaxed, now switches to rigid aggression within nanoseconds. arm snaps to have clawed hand grab other hedgehog's muzzle and hold it tightly ( a miracle skin hasn't been broken / much less his entire jaw ) .

   “ YOU'VE GOT GUTS. ” impossibly wide grin is spread, beast's maw full of razors parting to release a small bout of low laughter, an obvious comment left unsaid. “ i think i LIKE you. ”

   — oh. considerably caught off - guard by sudden affectionate gesture, if the way face alights and emerald eyes blink in rapid succession didn't make that clear / trying to wrap his brain around the what and the why. he hadn't done anything in particular that he could think of. “ uh, thanks, shadow — ” what he means to ask is what the special occasion to warrant that is, but an apparently more pressing question manages to slip out instead.

She stares back -- at someone who appeared to be Shadow at first glance . But , he wasn’t -- this was someone entirely different . His glare practically said it all ; he wasn’t happy to see her . But why ? They had never met before , and yet -- there was such malice in his eyes . . . 

She’d speak in a whisper -- concerned & terrified . “ Y - yes . . . ? Can I help you ? “
