I wanted to take a break from reading for grad school, so I started to rack my brain for ideas on what to write for this blog. Honestly, finding topics is about 3/4 of the battle for me—once I can get something on the screen, my fingers usually have a mind of their own after and continue without much direction.
Hopefully I can finish this new concept I thought of when I was trying to find a word with the same amount of letters as my original idea:
Starting from ten letters, I will attempt to write an entry based on a word that's relevant to my life, working my way down to "I" as the one-letter word.
I had two options for this entry (one of which persistent), but I decided to settle on consistent.
I don't want to cheat nor say something that might contradict this theme of mine, but I think I lack consistency in my life in good habits: I don't read nor practice as much as I should; I can get horrible at returning texts/emails/calls; I have a tendency to start or say things and not follow through all the way. As a graduate student, I'm really trying to stay on top of things so I don't fall behind. Although it's only been a couple weeks (if you don't include last semester), I think I've been doing pretty well since I'm keeping up/staying ahead of my readings, putting my shame aside and participating in class, and I've been trying to keep my ego in check since I don't have anything to be embarrassed about.
I know I've got to work on this in all aspects of my life: business, school, bowling, relationships, etc. I honestly think this is my hugest vice in my life—the worst part of it is knowing it and not having the discipline (another ten-letter word!) to conquer it.
If you're consistent, teach me your ways!
