virgil could sit logan down and feed him conspiracy theories and logan would gawk at the logical fallacies, fill them in, and uncover the actual conspiracy. cue unraveling while virgil laughs bent over
Logan felt bad, leaving like that, of course he did. But he just couldn’t handle it in there. Patton’s room blocked his judgement! He couldn’t think clearly, and with everyone talking over him? He could obviously see he wasn’t wanted, so you could hardly blame him for getting out of there. He breathed and paced back in forth in his room, facts and books and oh so many academic rewards stocking his shelves.
He growled and exhaled sharply through his nose, he could still feel the effects the room still had on him. He hated dealing with emotions, they clouded his judgement and made logic seem unreasonable, made it seem unimportant. Maybe, Thoma-No!
Logan frowned and buried the thought deep in his mind, he can’t think like that. Remember what happened to Virgil? He ducked out and Thomas was acting loopy for that entire video! What would happen if Logan chose to duck out! Thomas would have no clue how to do anything! He wasn’t just logic, he was the brain! He controlled speech, movement, his ability to concentrate and think, Thomas; ability to remember things! He was important.
But that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt when the others ignored him or pushed him away because he claims he doesn’t understand feelings. He does understand them, to an extent. He knows that all feelings vary from person to person but he just doesn’t know how to deal with them. He understands that feelings are caused by different things, he just can‘t understand the outcome. But he tries, and it seems that the others don’t see it, save except for maybe Virgil.
Virgil! Logan’s eyes snapped opened, he hadn’t even realized they closed. He can’t believe he just left him there! He was obviously on the verge of a panic attack and was being overloaded with everything and everyone around him. The signs were clear, he should have noticed them sooner.
Logan scoffed and fixed his tie and prepared to sink back down into Patton’s room. He hopped he wasn’t too late to help him.
Virgil was not doing so good was Logan’s first observation when he returned. The anxious side was sitting on the stairs instead of standing earlier and seemed to be sinking into the shadows, away from everyone else.
The nostalgia was sending him further down into a panic attack, overloading his senses. His breathing was labored and his skin was a stark white and sweaty. His hood was pulled over his ears and his eyes as he tried to block out the sounds and light. It wasn’t good, Logan had to get Virgil out of here, and fast.
He cast a glance at the other three and decided he could come back for them later, Virgil was top priority.
“Logan? What are you doing back so soon?”
Patton’s cheery voice immediately caused Roman and Thomas to halt in conversation. Logan barely spared them a glance but replied in an almost bored and monotonous tone, “Nothing, just forgot something.”
He cupped his hands around Virgil’s shoulders and slowly, so as not to startle him drastically, sank them out. As they exited the room, he could hear the other’ voices asking them to come back and stay, to reminisce in those times.
Logan only wanted to go back and tell them off for being so oblivious that this old breakup got in their way for caring for one another. He didn’t go back though and instead focused on getting Virgil into his room.
“Virgil? Virgil are you alright? You can open your eyes now, I turned off the lights.”
Slowly Virgil peeked out from under his hood and bangs, red eyes and tear tracks were visible as he breathed harshly. Logan felt guilty, he didn’t cause it but he did nothing to stop or help either.
“Hey,” he said softly,"It’s okay to let down your hood, there isn’t anyone else is here, it’s just you and me. Can you breathe with me Virgil? I need you to breathe with me, okay. In and out, in and out.”
He repeated the mantra several more times until Virgil seemed to ground himself and control his breathing.
Virgil still took shaky breathes but replied, “Y-you came back?”
Fearful, sad brown eyes peered up at the logical side, and Logan felt his heart break. “Of course I came back, once I realized my mistake I came up to get you.” He kneeled down so he was a bit below Virgil, “I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get you out earlier, could you forgive me?”
Virgil nodded and Logan felt pride and something else he couldn’t describe. Awe, he decided, he felt awe that Virgil had the strength to forgive him when he had messed up so terribly only a few moments ago.
Logan opened his arms and smiled awkwardly, “Is it okay for me to give you a hug?”
Virgil let out a tiny smile and nodded, slowly and hesitantly leaning forwards to let Logan embrace him.
Slowly and soothingly Logan ran his fingers through Virgil’s purple hair, humming softly and something else he couldn’t describe. The only thing that came to mind was safe, yes safe. They lay down on the bed, Logan’s fingers running through his hair quickly put Virgil to sleep, and Logan continued to hum his melody of unspoken words of safety and home. They fell asleep in the darkness of the room, in the soothing comfort they found in each other.
