Social Media, Part Two, Analysis Activity #1, PH 402
County of San Diego:
I liked that their page is very personable. It features a lot of pictures of citizens which shows that they want to connect with the community. It provides up to date information on health issues as well like a recent Zika hand spraying notification. The page is very organized so it is easy to navigate. My recommendations for the page are: (1) include the mission or goal of the county to show people that they are there to serve them, (2) possibly make an app to connect with social media and add that to the “About” tab, which can give immediate updates to a person’s phone, (3) include stories from residents to be more personal, (4) the page can utilize the live video feature that has become popular on FaceBook so it can give daily newscasts and livefeeds from events in the city, (5) and showcase some projects that are going on in the city to keep people aware of the progress if they’re interested. The following posts seem to be the ones at the top. They feature things from the military and veterans because the city has a large population that is in the armed forces.
County of San Francisco:
I liked that the page posts a lot about events in the city. It also includes posts about transportation because there are a lot of commuters that use the public transportation system in San Francisco. The recommendations that I would suggest are: (1) provide a link on the “About” tab that talks more about being Cyber Aware, as it is talked about in a few post, (2) since it includes many articles on events, it could have some stories from the people to be even more connected to the community, (3) try to make the page more personable because it seems to lack that diverse San Francisco culture, (4) utilize the live video feature on FaceBook to showcase these events that they are advertising, (5) have some PSAs on health related issues like the San Diego page does. These look like the top posts. They support the baseball team, which I think many people in San Francisco also really enjoy.
