A sweat bee (Lasioglossum spp.) dwelling in a sea of pearly everlasting flowers (Anaphalis margaritacea). A good patch of pearlies usually attracts a thrilling array of pollinators. I find them growing almost exclusively on dusty disturbed roadsides, except in the high mountains where they surprisingly inhabit glorious pristine meadows. The lowland plants are the ultimate flower for the bee enthusiast who has little interest in gardening.
