I think a really good dynamic for Steve and Eddie would be like Eddie thinks the relationship is like the song 18 by Anarbor. Like Steve is only with him as a rebellion against his parents, but in actuality, Steve is like Paper Rings by Taylor Swift, where he doesn’t care about their difference in status and wealth, but just loves Eddie wholeheartedly.
And like Eddie doesn’t understand that at all, and just thinks he’s being used but he really loves this man and will take whatever affection the universe will allow him before he gets tossed to the side, so he spends all of this time stressing for the end of their relationship, only to discover that Steve is planning their whole wedding and is entirely head over heels for him.

Eddie: I know he’s just using me, don’t get attached. He’s only doing this so he can shove in the face of his parents. Don’t get attached. Don’t get attached. Don’t get attached.

*Steve is talking on the phone to Robin about how much he loves Eddie and Robin is just puking from all of his words, and Eddie just doesn’t buy anything he’s saying*

Eddie: He’s only saying that so Robin can back up his claims about being with a man to spite his asshole dad.
