The day after dinner with your parents, Sam walked silently through the schoolyard, music blasting in his headphones, when someone comes up behind him, trying to catch up. Corey, his friend…sorta.
“Sam! Sam, wait up!” Corey shouts.
Sam slides his headphones down as he hears his name being called. “Oh…hey Corey.”
“Yo, what the deal with you and y/n? I saw you guys under the bleachers the other day. You hooking up with her or something?” Corey asks curiously.
“No.” Sam says curtly.
“Come on, man, the hottest piece of ass in this whole school, and you’re telling me that you’re not getting any from her?”
Sam stops abruptly, turning to face Corey with a glare. “No, I’m not. And watch your fucking mouth, okay?”
“Jesus, sorry.” Corey puts his hands up in surrender. “You must really like her or something…”
“Shut the fuck up and get a life Corey.”
Sam rolls his eyes and walks away, running straight into you.
“Hey!” You smile.
“Hey.” He smiles back shyly. Nervously shifting his weight. Fuck, why was he so nervous?
“I can’t thank you enough for last night. My parents are totally freaked out, and the kiss really sold it, so thanks for that too.” You laugh softly.
Sam’s cheeks turn a light shade of pink, but he tries to play it cool. “Um, yeah, I thought it would.”
“It totally did, they’ll be begging Josh to take me out in no time!”
Sam’s expression darkens. “Yeah, that’s great.”
Suddenly, you see Josh pulling into the parking lot in the distance. “Oh, speaking of Josh. I’ll see you later, okay?” You smile and excitedly rush over to Josh, hopping in his car.
Sam watches with disdain and pulls his headphones back on, trying to drown out his thoughts as he slumps against a nearby tree, pulling out a cigarette. I mean, what did you even see in him?
Part 1: https://www.tumblr.com/iwasneverhere72727/769464424546304000/its-a-deal
Sam looked down at the crumpled piece of paper in his hand on which you had scribbled your address. After obsessively double checking to make sure he’s in the right place, he finally rings the doorbell, shifting nervously.
You come downstairs and open the door. “Hey, come on in.” You smile softly, stepping aside so he can enter.
“Nice place.” Sam smirks, glancing around. It looks like home goods threw up all over the place.
“Thanks.” You shift uncomfortably. To say that he looks out of place would be an understatement. “So um do you want something to drink?” You ask politely.
“No thanks.” Sam says curtly, shaking his head.
“Alright well um…we can just go up to my room then.” You take his hand, leading him up the stairs. His eyebrow shoots up in surprise as you take his hand, and he looks away, trying to hide the faint blush on his cheeks.
Sam hesitantly sits on the edge of your bed, trying not to rumple the pristine sheets too much. “You mind if I smoke?” He asks softly, pulling out a cigarette and a lighter.
You hesitate, not wanting to be rude but also not wanting your entire room to reek of cigarettes. But that was what you propositioned him for anyways, right? To cause a little bit of disruption in your otherwise perfect life. “No, I don’t mind.” You shake your head. “Go ahead.”
He smirks, sensing your reluctance, and lights the cigarette, inhaling deeply. “So what’s the plan?”
“Well my parents will be home around 6 for dinner, and I can introduce you then. We can say that we met in…detention or something.” You shrug.
“Detention, really?” Sam raises an eyebrow amusedly.
“What? Is that really so unbelievable?” You scoff, crossing your arms. “You smoke everywhere. It’s not that unlikely a teacher would catch you and give you detention.”
Sam takes another drag of his cigarette before responding. “It is unlikely, because I’d never get caught. And even if I did, YOU wouldn’t be there. You’ve pretty much got the whole school wrapped around your finger.”
You roll your eyes at his comment. “I would be if I got caught smoking with you, my BOYFRIEND for the next couple months, in case you forgot.”
“Yeah, like you would smoke a cigarette.” Sam smirks.
“Watch me!” You scoff, snatching the cigarette from his hand and taking a drag, promptly choking on it and coughing up a storm. “Holy shit.” You choke, gasping for air.
Sam watches with wide eyes before an amused smile spreads across his face and he almost…laughs.
When you finally catch your breath, you notice his expression. “You smiled.” You tilt your head, a small smile tugging at your own lips. He hardly ever smiles.
“Yeah…I do that sometimes.” He rolls his eyes.
“You should do it more often, it suits you.”
“Whatever.” Sam grumbles, looking away and trying to hide the blush on his cheeks.
“I haven’t seen you smile since like freshman year, when you won that award for uh…what was it?”
“Street art.” He says shyly. “You remember that?”
“Yeah, it was in the school newspaper and everything.” You shrug.
“Only if you really looked for it.” He rolls his eyes.
“I um…I did look for it. I had a little bit of a crush on you back then.” You admit shyly, looking down at the ground.
Sam’s eyes widen in surprise and for a moment he’s speechless. “You um…” he trails off. “W-why…?”
“I don’t know.” You shrug nervously “I just…thought you were cool. And you held the door for me once, so then I thought you were really sweet too...” You laugh nervously, realizing what you just admitted. “Sorry, that was weird. I don’t know why I told you that, it’s not really…relevant anymore so just…ignore me.”
Before Sam can respond, you hear the front door open and shut.
“Shit…that’s my parents. You ready?”
Sam nods, still trying to process what you just admitted to him. He’s never had someone crush on him, at least not to his knowledge, let alone you, this gorgeous girl who seemingly has everyone at her feet. Even if it was a long time ago, he’s shocked that you’d even notice him, look in his direction, let alone have a crush on him. His suspicion was confirmed. You were fucking insane.
AN: Sorry this took forever lol, I’ll try to post part 3 sooner.
Let me know if you guys liked it and if you have any suggestions! 🫶
Sam Monroe is…introverted. He keeps to himself and doesn’t bother talking to many people; he doesn’t need to. All he needs is his music, a cigarette, maybe some weed (depending on the day), and he’s set.
Needless to say, he was surprised when you passed him a note during math class, interrupting his solitude. At first, he wasn’t even sure that the note was meant for him; I mean, you had never acknowledged him before, other than the occasional polite smile in the hallway. Besides, why would you? You were gorgeous, smart, popular, and basically had half the school wrapped around your pretty little finger. What would you want with a “freak” like him? But there it was, his name on a folded piece of paper and your eyes on him from across the room. He hesitantly unfolds the note, reading the message, his eyebrows furrowing slightly in confusion.
“Meet me under the bleachers after class?” The note reads.
He just stares at it for a moment, unsure of what to do or how to react. You shoot him an impatient, questioning look that says: “are you in or what?” And he finally gives a small, reluctant nod back before shoving the note into his pocket.
After class, you wait under the bleachers for him, a small smile on your lips as he cautiously approaches you.
“Um…hi. It’s Sam, right?” You ask, nervously biting your lip. You’ve never been nervous around people, but something about Sam Monroe makes you feel like you’re walking on eggshells.
Sam raises an eyebrow, trying to hide his surprise that you even know his name. “Yeah…And you’re…y/n.” He pauses, staring at you for a moment before quickly averting his gaze and continuing. “So you uh…wanted to talk or something?”
I brace myself, taking a deep breath before replying. “Yeah, listen, I don’t really know how to go about this, so I guess I’ll just say it. I heard that you owed Josh some money, and I was hoping that maybe we could help each other out…”
His shoulders tense, and his expression turns guarded. “What do you mean?”
“Here’s the deal, Josh asked me to prom, and I really want to go. The only problem is my parents are very…protective of me, and I’m not allowed to date. But, if I freak them out enough over the next few months and show them that Josh is just a nice, normal guy, then going to prom with him in April shouldn’t be a problem.”
Sam’s jaw clenches at the mention of Josh, who, in his opinion, is a fucking dick. An obnoxious, spoiled, convertible-driving dick. “Look, I don’t know what this has to do with me-“
I cut him off. “I want you to be my boyfriend. Not for real, just for the next couple of months. My parents are really conservative, and I know you’d scare the shit out of them…no offense. We piss them off by “dating” for a while, and by April, they’ll be BEGGING Josh to take me to prom. I know you owe him a lot of money, and in return for your help, I’ll take care of your debt. All of it, gone. I promise. You won’t have to worry about paying him another dime.”
Sam’s eyes widen slightly before he catches himself and schools his expression back into one of nonchalance. This whole thing is ridiculous, and fucking stupid if you ask him. Prom? Josh? It’s all nonsense to him, and the fact that you’re willing to do ALL of this, makes him seriously question your judgment…and sanity. But you were right about one thing, he did owe Josh a lot of money, more than he could afford to pay back on his own. Having his debt taken care of would be a HUGE weight off his shoulders. Plus, let’s face it, dating a gorgeous girl isn’t exactly a downside, even if it is just pretend. After a moment of silence, Sam finally nods his head.
“Yeah, okay, it’s a deal.”
