i think im having my very own "god save the dib" moment vis a vis red in h-word because h word As A Story is paced pretty well but the thing is red is a sniveling little piss baby of a protagonist who has absolutely zero agency and frankly it makes the story kind of boring to read and ungodly infuriating to write, and also like. why should we the readers give a swag about anything if red the Guy It Is All Happening To doesnt. like

also red evenchually has a daughter that like, her whole Thing is that she's extremely similar to red and shes a pathological liar sooo..... red should pathologically lie some more

which means i have to rewrite h-word..A G A IN........... what if i just started eating dirt. dirt from the fucking ground. who cares anymore

anarchisma is as much about people in power doing nothing as it is about people not in power doing something. each character exists on an axis of "has power/does not have power" and "is doing something about The Pressing Situations/is not doing something," and every single one of these people is negatively impacted by the system that, in the case of some of them, they choose not to push back against despite having the means to. it's as much a story about the inactive as it is about the active. so really if you think about it its actually thought provoking metacommentary that i haven't updated in 2 years

ANYWAY its been a while SO! FUN ANARCHISMA FACT: there's a song thats mostly normal except for ONE lyric that's, let's say, Very Blasphemous. the song was temporarily banned and then a new "approved" version without the offending lyric was released.

some cover artists will perform this song at concerts, as it sounds EXTREMELY conformist without the single offending lyric. HOWEVER some artists will hold the microphone out to the crowd for that lyric, causing some fans to yell the original lyric and some to yell the approved lyric. its impossible to prosecute because a) you cant tell who shouted what, b) you cant just mass execute people for Singing Bad Lyric, and the menial punishment youd get for a mild instance of spreading anti-empire rhetoric is NOT worth tracking down who said what and then accomodating ALL THOSE PEOPLE in jail, and c) the actual singer did nothing wrong because holding the mic out at key moments is a very normal thing to do at a concert

so this creates a situation where if you sing an anarchist song in its entirety, you may or may not be an anarchist. but if you sing the same anaechist song in its entirety except for the actual anarchist part, you're DEFINETLEY an anarchist

In Anarchisma the synthetic glucose for the weird candy has this weird chemical in it. what is it?

ok so! synth (synthetic glucose) is a drug that has different additives added to create variants of itself with varying effects. the one in the fermi paradox fic had something called ophiocordyceps unilateralis in it, a parasitic fungus that invades the minds of ants and zombifies them. combined with synthetic glucose, it gives an irken a state of "increased suggestibility," alongside euphoric effects regarding that suggestability :) theres also the implication that since synth green has cordyceps in it, its more addictive than the other variants because it actively makes you want to take more because of the cordyceps... but who knows if that's true~?

fun anarchisma facts: what is worse? doing nothing but your inaction causes untold deaths, or intervening and subsituting said death with torture that makes the victim want to die? is it more moral to cause more suffering in the hope that something good will blossom, or to leave things as-is and doom millions to die young? you sent your children far away from you to live better lives. you didn't tell your child about the horrors youve endured. your children bear the brunt of a trauma they do not understand. they seek out the very strife and war your inaction strove to protect them from. and now what? you can't go back. you can't rewind time, only look back at it with the burden of hindsight. you can't save everyone. you can't save anyone. you can't save yourself.

fun anarchisma facts part 2: autistic irkens exist! not every autistic irken is defective though (defectiveness is in the PAK, not the brain) but it's very common for nondefective autistic irkens to be more comfortable around defective irkens! the term "heretic" eventually expands to include nondefective autistics if they so choose to identify with it :)
