1.Beefless Brisket 2.VHam 3.Roasted Turkey While our cookbook is used for our organizational purposes only, our founder doesn’t mind sharing a few of her ideas about her method, the #AbundanceMethod. “Fun Fact. I loved the taste of meat. I just have not eaten it since 1993. She says she just cannot get the taste out of her mouth which is a blessing for our business. “These loaves were made out of VWG & my taste memories blend of seasonings. I did a reading and one of my lineage ancestors guided me. This is one of the many reasons why all of our recipes are owned by @ancestralkitchen and licensed to @dropsquadkitchen for commercial use. The #AbundanceMethod is a science and an art. The four main components are aesthetics, texture, seasoning, and of course taste. These loaves required love, time and attention to prepare. Because wheat does not have fat, blood or tissue (I know it sounds gross)we have to rely on the best quality ingredients such as naturally derived salt, sugar, acid, and oils to achieve the four components. Hint: A lot of people rely on steaming or boiling their seitan. I simply do NOT. When I have a taste for something I rely on my intuition or MEAT recipes, especially those that come from prior to industrialization. I am inspired by the earlier cooking processes’ use of heat and whole foods. Many recipes I have found to be vegan because they lacked the refrigeration capacity of today. A habit I see people doing which I think is a mistake, is using food processors and over kneading. It is a wheat protein! That glue- ten is the thing that makes it bind and stretch and give it the unami texture we are all looking for. It should be paired well with other things that compliment the protein like magnesium does calcium. Put your hands in it so you can FEEL what you are working with. Finally, do not over season the seitan. Spend more time being overly attentive to turning it, basting it, and creating with intent your desired result.” -@abundancechild Chief Food Alchemist #dropsquadkitchen #ancestralkitchen (at Drop Squad Kitchen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWqufnKrpgX/?utm_medium=tumblr

Ikú kì í jẹun ẹni kó tún pani' which literarily means, death cannot insist on taking one's life after eating one’s food. ・・・ Repost @abalayenigeria ・・・ This proverb is one of the extractions from Ifá corpus. The story is centered on Ọ̀rúnmìlà, Èṣù and Ikú (Death). There was once a disagreement between Ọ̀rúnmìlà and Ikú, so Ikú as his name implies vowed to kill Ọ̀rúnmìlà. This made Ọ̀rúnmìlà consult his oracle. The divination directed Ọ̀rúnmìlà to prepare a sacrifice and place it at the T-junction. So Ọ̀rúnmìlà did as the oracle instructed. Èṣù, the deity in charge of sacrifice had quickly taken the sacrifice to the path way leading to Ọ̀rúnmìlà's house, on the day Ikú promised to take away his life. Ignorantly, Ikú ate the meal prepared by Ọ̀rúnmìlà after which he embarked on his mission. As Ikú was about to enter the house of Ọ̀rúnmìlà, he met Èṣù who engaged him in a brief conversation. Ikú declared his mission to take Ọ̀rúnmìlà's life, Èṣù then reminded him of the sacrifice at the T-junction. Ikú said he just finished eating the meal. At that point, Èṣù burst into laughter in disagreement to the mission of Ikú. Èṣù now proverbially said: 'Ikú kì í jẹun ẹni kó tún pani' which literarily means, death cannot insist on taking one's life after eating one’s food. Hence, it becomes a proverb to this day that ikú kì í jẹun ẹni kó tún pani which denotatively means that you can't hurt a person who has done you a favour in the past. • ©️Àbáláyé Nigeria 2019. • #abalayenigeria #oweYoruba #yorubainstagram #bbcyoruba ・・・ #ancestralkitchen #diasporaifa #ifadiaspora #vegansofifa (at Drop Squad Kitchen) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs4RRKxHsUt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xckxr3h9hpf4
