Relief at Naqsh-e Rajab depicting the Sasanian king Shapur I followed by his sons and nobles, 3rd century CE. Shapur I, known as “the Great,” was the second ruler of the Sasanian Empire (c. 240–270), initially co-ruling with his father Ardashir I. He expanded and consolidated the empire, waging major campaigns against the Roman Empire, capturing key cities and even defeating and capturing the emperor Valerian in 260.

Rather than holding Roman territories, he focused on plunder and resettlement, strengthening cities like Gundeshapur. Shapur also promoted state building, founding cities, supporting Zoroastrianism while incorporating foreign influences, and tolerating new movements such as Mani’s teachings. He was the first to adopt the title “King of Kings of Iranians and non-Iranians” and died in 270.

Why the fuck would you allow someone to walk a red carpet with 3000 year old artefacts on her ears? These were found in 1947, a time the entire Levantine and Arab world was in bits because not only did World War Two just happened, all countries in that region fell into civil unrest after colonial rule broke. No one is going to convince me that these were found and removed from Iran in an ethical manner.

Why would you want to wear 3000 year old Iranian artifacts to remind your audience that you’re playing a Greek goddess?

And sorry no, after the whole debacle with Iran in the World Cup and geo-political issues caused by one person only, you’re not going to convince me that this isn’t politically fuelled.

A country running by evangelical Christians who hate Iran because the bible says Persians prosecute Jews is the only place in the world that would allow this. You wouldn’t be at war with Iran if it weren’t for the orange man and his evangelicals attacking Iran unprovoked. And face it. It’s not the Iranian government (who I don’t support either) that’s getting hit. You’re attacking civilians. Meanwhile pushing your own civilians into just as much shit because your stupid idea costs one billion dollars A DAY.

On a heritage level I don’t agree with Zendaya wearing historical artefacts. Unfortunately -no matter how they got there- if the artefacts are in private ownership they can technically do with them what they want, but you just don’t. You have a voice. Say no. Wear a replica olive wrath around your head that’s actually Grecian. Wear actual olive branches. Preach peace while dressed in white holding olive branches. But no. Americans.

And for the Americans who now want to defend themselves; Iran is actually a country with a very rich history, scientific discoveries, art, culture, architecture, craftsmanship and intellect. Now look at yourselves. Founded in 1776 claiming native Americans have to “go back to their country” and “running a ship up on someone’s coast is not justification for colonisation”, just look at yourselves.

Your excuse that the bible says something you blatantly blew up to be a reason for modern day politics somehow allowing you to feel provoked is inadequate. Your president wants to send Iran back to the Stone Age, but that’s not the country that ended up there.
