Zodiac Assassins
The Chinese zodiac is more than you think.
A long time ago there was an unstoppable beast that tore across Asia and threatened to destroy everything. The people pleaded for help and in return they were given spirit animals who gathered their power and knowledge to cage the invincible beast.
However this cage was not perfect and roars would pass through the cage and fill the souls of various life with rage and evil intent. The animal spirits, or Zodiac Spirits, gave one last gift to humanity before they spent all of eternity guarding the beast.
A human would be born, one for each of the Chinese zodiac animals, who would be blessed with great skill and ability. These people would channel the souls of the Zodiac Beasts and strike down the dark voices of their caged enemy.
When one of them dies, the next human born is the new Zodiac Assassin. To this day there is still an order of monks who listen to prophesies and train each new assassin on how to hunt and destroy these “Voices”.
My old job has these guys checked on every year like taxes and so far they seem legit. We even hire them when there are no voices currently assaulting humanity. These guys and girls don’t use magic, but they are still amazing at combating magical enemies.
They do have one weakness though, they are unable to kill anyone who is born on the Animal Zodiac year that they represent. So a Rooster assassin cannot kill someone born in the year of the Rooster/Chicken. Been a problem a few times.
I always tried to spend time with either Snake or Rat, those guys knew how to enjoy a “Monster killing” job. So when you remember your Zodiac sign, look inside yourself and see if you can feel that connection to a vast power that watches over you.
