Blackout had noticed a building overtaken by a landslide in the outskirts, overcome with foliage and nature as it reclaimed it’s land, and decided to stop inside. Perhaps he could find something useful within?
Many holes in the ceiling made for small beams of light to shine on the dusty, abandoned computers and furniture. It was nice, oddly enough, to see the determination of mother nature. It was the only thing more destructive than Humanity…Blackout admired that.
He’d found a small pool of rainwater within, with a light shining in from a hole in the ceiling. It lit up the vines and moss growing there, reflections of the water dancing across the walls. The world was still, and silent apart from the chirping of birds. It was a rare moment of feeling peaceful, for the maverick. Albeit, a melancholy peace. It reminded him, of times before. Moments of solitude with a friend. The song they would sing, together….
“….I walked across, an empty land.I knew the pathway like the back of my hand…I felt the earth beneath my feet….Sat by the river, and it made me complete.Oh, simple thing….where have you gone?I’m getting old, and I need something to rely on….”
