The city of Teyuna in Colombia is one of the lesser known ancient cities (also known as the lost city). To reach this majestically hidden treasure-trove you need to undertake trekking along Colombiaś Ciudad Peridad trail. Itś a 5 day trek covering 44 km. December to March is the best season for visit. The trek may be long but is not treacherous in terms of difficulty level. Therein lies the beauty.
Atop the northern slopes of Nevada de Santa Marta, the city of Teyuna, built by the Tairona civilization, sits deep within the jungle.
Along the hike-trail expect to cross streams at the foothills of the mountain range and witness some breathtaking Colombian scenery.
Did you know that Teyuna and the beach resort town, Palomino is just few hours away from each other. Even then, the seclusion is such that venturing into the city feels like landing on a different planet altogether.
FYI: Home to more than 10,000 people, the city was constructed around 650 years before Machu Picchu.
