Key Differences in my Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Retelling, Part 1
Ever since I started playing Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney for the first time, I decided to make a novelization fanfiction of the game called A New Chapter of Trials. However, I wanted to do some things that Capcom should have done (no disrespect to them or anything) as well as alter some things to make it more consistent and compliant with Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice (and vice versa). That, and add in some things that were never actually present in the game or the series as a whole.
More info under the cut.
Phoenix asks Kristoph to have Apollo represent him rather than say that "[he's] in [Kristoph's] hands" after Zak Gramarye gets brained. This is because Phoenix was actually aware of Kristoph spying on him earlier on and decided to use that as leverage to indict Kristoph as the culprit
When Phoenix asks Zak if he would like to see Trucy one last time, Zak flat out refuses. This leads to Phoenix nearly losing his cool...until he is reminded of a past case where he had almost done so (this case is implied to be Farewell, My Turnabout, which nearly pushed him over the edge when Maya was kidnapped)
Unlike in the games, Apollo is more of a sassy, sarcastic, foul-mouthed little bugger (tying in with his manner of speaking in the Japanese version of the game)
Kristoph's sinister persona is displayed right from the start instead of when Phoenix accuses him of being Zak's killer
Apollo actually feels bad for Winston Payne when the "Rookie Killer" complains about not being able to prosecute anyone at all
Trucy is a lot more mature here than she is in the games, especially given how she was the sole breadwinner of the Wright Talent Agency before Apollo arrived
Throughout the story, we get a few glimpses of Apollo's past and the trauma he underwent, even before he became a lawyer
Klavier is a lot more flirtatious towards Apollo in here than he is in the games, yet is also more self-conscious in court due to the fateful case he took seven years ago
Ema is a bit more respectful towards Apollo, and forms a more sisterly relationship with Trucy. She still keeps her Snackoo-eating and tossing habits, especially when she gets annoyed
Phoenix is still a cryptic jerk, but he also treats Apollo with some respect so it's not as bad
Apollo and Trucy begin their sibling-like banter almost as soon as they arrive at the Hickfield Clinic. Apollo is also more protective towards Trucy
Dr. Hickfield does not show up at all (thankfully), being instead replaced with Edgeworth
However, Clay DOES show up, and plays a more prominent role. He usually ends up as Apollo's secondary investigative partner due to his dismal sense of direction
Her full name is Cotinus coggygria, but she usually go by her nickname Ancot in casual setting. She’s in her early twenties and has been newly appointed to be an ambassador of Ecoverse at the world leader conference.
She has smoke magic, which despite being very fun is not very useful and can even be dangerous, so she left her hat at home to avoid a diplomatic incident. It’s her first official mission as Shaman Cocos’ ambassador and she doesn’t want to screw it up !
Even if she’s a bit nervous, she has a very positive and friendly attitude which is part of the reasons she was chosen to represent her country.
A New Chapter of Trials - Chapter 2 | Archive of Our Own
Summary: The trial of Phoenix Wright for the murder of Shadi Smith begins, and Apollo starts to get a good grasp on what he's supposed to do. As it turns out, the simple competition over a game of poker turns out to be more than just a competition...and Apollo soon realizes that this may not be a normal trial after all!

I'd like to apologize for the year-long delay. A lot of things got in the way, especially my last year of university as well as some other projects. But I would really like to see this re-telling through to the very end (as well as my re-tellings for Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, should I consider getting to them).
Also, sorry for cutting another chapter short. But, hey, at least we're finally starting to get into the nitty-gritty of it all, right...?
What if, after Phoenix accused Kristoph of murdering Shadi Smith and the court has to take a recess, Apollo goes to apologize to Olga Orly and promises to her that he’ll set things right?
I think it would give him a sort of establishing character moment and show that, even though Orly isn’t his client, he wants to make sure that an innocent person doesn’t get the wrong verdict. It would also set quite a contrast to Kristoph, who is willing to make anyone guilty by all means necessary.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary: Seven years ago, legendary defense attorney Phoenix Wright was caught presenting forged evidence in court, and was disbarred as a result. His client vanished without a trace, leaving behind his young daughter. Now, Phoenix is on a case of his own: to track down the man who ruined his reputation before anyone else comes to harm. But to do that, he will have to rely on someone who works for that man. A young defense attorney, whose voice is as loud as his suit is red. His name: Apollo Justice!
A retelling of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney to be more compliant with Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice because I can.
I did it... I finally started writing this goddamn fanfic! A few days late from this blog’s first anniversary, but who cares?! I don’t regret this in the slightest!
Progress will be incredibly slow for the time being, just so I can work out the kinks and stuff. I might add some things that were not present in the game, but were implied in the later games, such as Clay encouraging Apollo to continue working as a lawyer, and some other things. Also a whole lotta Klapollo because this is MY fanfic, and I do what I want.
Anyways, enjoy!
(P.S. There will be minor characters who will also be named after puns. For this chapter alone, Oswald Enswell = all's well [that] ends well.)
(P.P.S. This is also the 1000th post on this blog, holy crap! Well, in that case, consider this my thanks for being there for me every step of the way!)
So I just resumed writing A New Chapter of Trials (my AA4 retelling), and I just realized that, due to the current chapter's length, I may end up with five chapters total for the Turnabout Trump arc.
