lmao u could’ve submitted this anon and i probly would have not known who it was... i’m not very perceptive...
Frankie stretched languidly, one leg resting on a barre the height of her chest. “You know this has to be this way.”
You slouch against the wall, your eyes tracing the curve of her muscled leg. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I just miss you.”
Her eyes softened, and she leaned forward to run a comforting hand down your arm. “I miss you too, y/n.”
“Well then why can’t you come home?” you whine.
“It’s not that simple.” She sat down and leaned forward over her legs, pressing her chest to the floor. “I can’t just abandon my company. I’m the principal. I can’t skip out this tour.” She shifted, settling into a right split and leaning back until her head touched her left foot. “I’m just glad the tour came home.”
She stood and rested both her hands on the barre. “Plie, plie, plie, releve,” she mumbled to herself.
“Do you have to start rehearsal now?” you asked.
“Yeah. But you can stay and watch if you want to.” She gestured to the front of the room, and you curled up against the mirror and watched as your girlfriend practiced her dance. The man she danced with curled his arms around her and whispered something into her ear, and she laughed delicately.
That night, you sat in the audience and watched as she performed her signature fouettes with what seems the greatest of ease. During the curtain call, you watched her carefully, searching for any emotion other than carefully sculpted happiness.
You walked with her down the hallway to the stage door. “Do you want to wait in here?” she asked, avoiding your eyes. “There’s bound to be a crowd outside. You can come out when they’re gone.”
“No, no, I’ll come out with you. Crowds don’t scare me.” So she squeezed your hand tightly and creaked the stage door open into the muddy alley. “I got special leave from Madame to not stay at the hotel with the company tonight. If you’ll have me, I could stay with you?” she whispered to you as she scribbled autographs on programs.
“Of course I’ll have you. You’re my girlfriend. We can make midnight milkshakes.” She started to protest. “Madame doesn’t have to know.” She grinned mischievously at you.
That night, laying in bed staring into each other’s eyes, she mumbled an apology. “What are you apologizing for, Frankie?”
“For being gone all the time. For touring and rehearsing all the time. Sorry I’m never here.”
“It’s okay. You know they say absence makes the heart grow fonder,” you crack, eliciting a small giggle.
“I’m still sorry, though. It can’t be easy.”
“Hey,” you say gently, cupping her face in your hands. “It doesn’t matter how long you’re gone. I’m always gonna be here when you get back. Just because you’re away so much doesn’t mean I can’t still love you with my whole being. I’ll be waiting for you, right here, no matter where you are. I’ll guide you home.”
She surged forward and tugged you into a kiss before smiling sleepily against your lips. “I love you, y/n.”
