Supportive Hugs
A/N: A ramble 'cause I wanna talk and i found it easier to do compared to headcanons
Bubaigawara Jin:
Jin has not had affection in so long. He’s gotten around, he’s quite handsome and with enough drinks, one could ignore the double talking, words that contradict and gestures that imply other things but he’s never been one with a high libidio so it’s also a whole “who cares” type of deal. Affection- the pure love, that you can feel the warmth and your cheeks hurt from smiling so much- is something else. He misses that so much. He grew up with it, had it taken away; had a life that was ruined- he misses hand holding and hugs that aren’t forced and loose. If you were to give him a hug, he’s freezing up, he’s not one to immediately hug and he’s silent, mouth shut and hands balled into fists. A few moments pass until he returns the hug. It’s tight, matching yours, his hands grip your shirt and with his strength, he could certainly tear it; it’s opposite to yours that lay flat against his back, fingertips pressing down and alternating between stillness and rubbing circles when he starts to whimper. It’s low, in the back of his throat and only happens a few times, until he crouches and buries his head into the crook of your neck. With or without the mask, you can tell he’s close to tears with how stiff he is and how ragged his breaths are, and when you tell him that it’s okay, that he’s okay and safe in your arms, he could absolutely fall in love at that moment. If he receives a hug, Jin is unsure how to act, body taking control and immediately returning the affection he’s longed for. He’s been through a lot, had a lot of changes to his life that he wasn’t prepared for and holding him in your arms and comforting him, can let him believe for a moment that everything is alright and that it will turn out okay.
Shigaraki Tomura:
Tomura has never had affection. Tenko had affection but it was false. He believes that his family- minus his father- loved him to an extent but after the gruesome deaths, and taking the family name Shigaraki, he’s never been held. Kurogiri was possibly the closest thing he had to affection but even then it was pats on the back or a hand that lingered for too long. Getting a hug from you leaves his shocked- he knows what to do, that he just has to wrap his arms around you but it feels wrong to do that- like he’ll ruin the moment so he stays still with trembling hands and slowly lowers himself until he’s against your neck, breathing in raspy breaths, and when you lower an arm, hosting your fingers over the side if his hand, he jumps and immediately pulls you close to him. He knows what affection is, he’s aware of the implications of it but feeling it is so much different. It’s warmer than he expected. There’s a deep pounding in his chest and his breath shakes and he didn’t know that he could feel safe. He’s been safe before, been in a warm room, had time to game and whatnot but being in your arms, where you gently whisper his name and tell him that he’s okay, that he’s safe, he can feel tears sting his eyes and a tightness in his throat that can’t be explained and he just hides in you, silently begging that you don’t let go. Tomura knows what affection is supposed to look like but he’s forgotten the soft touches so when you come along, and hug him tight, openly and without free, no exchange necessary, he wants to hide himself, he wants the tears to blink away as he tries to keep his breath leveled and he’ll hold you tight, repeating the words that you both will be okay- we’ll be okay.
Toga Himiko:
Despite her cheery attitude- the attitude that lets her want to grow close to people, whether out of fascination or admiration- Himiko isn’t used to hugs. She grew up relatively fine, had affection but she noticed after a certain age, it was forced. Stiff arms from her parents and family, peers who never quite hugged her with the intensity she craved. And then everything changed for her. If you were to hug her, she’d have a natural reaction to push you off, to not let her hopes get high and she’d miss the warmth. So she’s in shock when you continue to hold onto her, tightening your grip and playing with the soft strands of hair that peek from her messy buns. She’s highly emotional, showing more of her giddiness and childish tendencies than anything else so when you hug her and don’t let go, but instead hug her with the same intensity that she’s been craving, she immediately returns the hug. It floods to her like a tidal wave with how much she’s missed genuine affection. She might cry, have a wide smile while tears make her eyes shine and she’ll bounce in her step, stepping closer to you and nuzzling into your cheek. Tears will flood over and she’ll melt once you pull her closer, letting your hand curve over the back of her head and press her down to your shoulder and if you tell her it’s going to be okay, she’s going to believe you. Himiko has been throw a lot at a young age and to be held and not rejected, to have her hair be played with as you comfort her and tell her that everything is going to be will bring tears to her eyes that she’ll laugh off and smile through but when he’s in the comfort of your shoulder or neck, she lets the tears falls and holds you tighter.
I am a white girl who grew up in the south. We were taught that Emmett Till deserved it because who knows what he mightve done if she wasn't protected? We were taught that the only thing that can protect us from black men who want to r*pe us is a strong white Christian man with a gun. We are taught to fear black men until they are hung from trees. We are taught to exclude black women from women's rights conversations that never go so far as to endorse abortion or divorce outside of abuse. We are taught that God was an Aryan, and that is a hard thing to unlearn. I am trying. The girls who are still there have no idea there's anything wrong. If I believed in their god, I would pray.
My pinterest board for Feliks is just photos of Brigitte Bardot, daggers and designer dresses.
That looks so cool I literally cannot wait to be there with u someday
i can show u giant balls it’s really fun
So my theory that I'd burst into flames if I walk into a church was proven wrong.
Recover The Gospel
Here’s a selection from Study Bibles for Our Hearts, Homes, and Churches, Joel Beeke’s commitment to the September issue of Tabletalk:
While a study Bible is not a viable alternative for enrollment in a nearby church where you frequently hear the Word’s proclaiming, it is an incredible chance to gain from savvy instructors whom God has given to the congregation. Study Bibles are a bit much for salvation or profound development, but rather since God utilizes the service of devoted ministers and researchers to call and assemble His congregation, their composed service can assist us with comprehension God’s Word better.
