I need to post my Coffeeshop AU where the Master, in his latest scheme, decides that the Order of Aurelius will be getting into the coffee business. With a family-run coffeeshop staffed by Darla and her descendants, while Luke runs supply side. The Harvest but it's a coffee harvest. The man got his lil business scheme on in The Wish, I need more of it, and I need the Fanged Four modern(ish) day reunion. And rivalry with the scoobies. and yet it stubbornly refuses to leap fully formed from my brain onto the page. I have heaps of it written, but in bits and pieces all out of order, needing stitched together into something coherent and WHY.

Oh, fuck.  I just got to the part where old John Ross rains on Franklin's parade by confronting him re: taking too many men and oversized boats on his expedition and this is really just delicious bad Arctic-explorer fanfiction.  It's like William Seward's role in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter-- my biases are so strong I can't NOT like this on some level.

I take it back on The Terror.  It's still clunky but far more entertaining when you skip the exposition and so straight to the part where Crozier is drinking the hard stuff and thinking over how he didn't really like the junior officers who got killed by the bear-monster.

OH YEAH.

Anyone interested in researching the Franklin Expedition, BEWARE.  One of the lasting fascinations of this disaster is the well-preserved corpses left behind prior to the final disaster.  Searches for just about any damn thing on the Franklin Expedition will lead to gruesome pictures of 19th-century dead men, often with open eyes and exposed teeth.

It is fucking horrible.  It is nightmare fuel.  Exposure to this shit as a wee kidlet is why I am so obsessed with this story IRL.  

TL;DR research with care and never ever type "franklin expedition" into an image search unless you want John Torrington and his corpse-friends haunting you forever.
