in other news, i've been getting pretty good feedback from my supervisors about the progress of my dissertation, still in the process of making my way through the introduction and the approach i have in using the primary sources and scholarly work but i'm genuinely relieved with this

KOP Guys in a Haunted House (Headcanon)

hi! it’s time for my yearly headcanon (because i only ever seem to actually write anything like once a year lmao) and i had this idea pop up almost a month ago so here it is.

i would like to thank @the-voltage-diaries for helping me, building the very foundations of this idea and also proof-reading this for me tyvm ily

There may be some spoilers here (mainly with the newer trio and not so much with the Paradiso guys) - it depends on what you consider to be a spoiler so just as a precaution!

Taki Kozaki

Taki doesn’t get scared very easily,

In fact, Taki would be the scary one here.

Yosuke’s shenanigans have put him through a lot.

So he’s convinced that this haunted house is another one of Yosuke’s antics.

It’s also very easy for him to put on a poker face here.

But then he sees the state that Yosuke is in and lets his guard down a little

He goes into workaholic mode and starts evaluating and talking about the house itself.

If any of the guys try to cling to him for protection, he’ll scold them

he wouldn’t mind if it was MC though, perfectly capable of making exceptions here ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Kiyohito Shirakami

Being the most apathetic out of the guys, you wouldn’t expect him to react to anything

And from the surface, that’s what it looks like

He doesn’t want the other guys to notice that he’s scared, they already tease him enough so he’s not looking to instil that any further.

Chances are, he’s not going to sleep tonight

Perhaps if he wasn’t afraid of what his friends would say, he’d cling onto someone

He’d pick Taki. And Taki would probably let him if he was in a motherly mode

It’s just very easy to picture him shivering that’s all.

Don’t pair him up with Sakuto though, they’d just end up arguing with each other and entertaining the other guys

The actors in the house would be concerned and too scared of them

If you tried to scare these two while they’re at it like an old married couple,

They’d both glare at you.

Shun Randoh

Now, it’s been mentioned before that Shun hates horror movies

It makes sense that he doesn’t want to be here either

What makes you think he wants to be here?

You would have to drag Shun in with you.

He’ll insist on staying outside

Or he’s begging to bring Sydney in with him as his Knight in Scaly Armour™

He is met with a hard “No.” along with very stern look from Taki

Taki doesn’t want to traumatise her now

Eventually he’s inside

And he’s on edge the whole time

The actors are doing a very good job here

He’ll flinch at the sound of anything

Maybe he tries to film his experience inside

That footage will never be viewed though

One - It’s mainly just Shun screaming and your ears would be violated

Two - He couldn't stay still so you’d feel motion-sick watching it too

Three - He doesn't want to relive the experience

It’s very likely that Shun is going to have nightmares

Yosuke Sagara

omg guys it’s my mans he’s here–

Now in any other setting, Yosuke is as cool as ice bb unflappable

In this haunted house however, he’s divided on how he feels

From everyone else’s perspective, it’s hard to differentiate whether he’s just being overdramatic or not

Yosuke seems like the kind of person to try and be brave but only to fail 5 minutes into this venture after hearing an eerie noise at the opposite end of the corridor

Maybe he stops being scared after a while

But he pretends to be scared to keep Kiyohito and Shun on their toes and piss off Taki

Whether he’s acting or he's genuinely scared, he’s definitely the loudest

You will hear his screams from outside the building

Really adds to the creepy atmosphere don’t you think?

At the end of experience, after the adrenaline rush (or not? The man is an enigma), he’d definitely say “That was fun!”

Cue Yosuke getting smacked by the rest of the guys

Kaisei Kuon

If Shun is the scaredy-cat then Kaisei is the opposite:

He isn’t remotely scared.

Kaisei is who Yosuke wishes to be here

The Critic

He will examine every little detail in this place

The floor is sparkling just a little bit too much? 

Yeah, he doesn’t like that, he thinks clean floors are not in the essence of a real haunted house

Not enough flickering lightbulbs?

It’s a firm no from Kaisei Kuon. It gives people too much confidence and not enough fear.

The Crunch

He’s definitely carrying a snack or two

“Want some? They’re ketchup flavoured :)”

[Kiyohito: “That’s gross”]

[Tsubaki: “Not to mention unhealthy”]

“Oh well. More for me :)”

Whether you asked for it or not,

Kaisei will be leaving his opinions and his experience in great detail on every platform possible

Hayachika Kasatsubaki

Poker Face - The Sequel

It’s a little comical to think of Tsubaki trembling at the sight of something scary

Unlike Taki though, I think he’s more open to having people cling to him regardless of whether they are Kiyo, Shun or MC

He’s much more motherly

That being said though, it doesn’t mean Tsubaki won’t tease them afterwards

He’d tolerate Yosuke and Kaisei’s silliness 

He also casually gives Sakuto some advice on his scar

There’s not really much he can do about it, but every little helps

It ends up becoming a long conversation about health technology

The actors in the haunted house just look at them weirdly every time they walk by 

Because at this point, they’re invisible to the pair

And Tsubaki’s nonchalance ends up irking something in Taki

And then it becomes a competition between the pair

Who is the Most Unbothered? 

Taki kinda snapped at him a bit, out of frustration

Tsubaki isn’t bothered though, he even gets a little flirty only to piss Taki off even more

Sakuto Amatsuka/Blood Moon

Poker Face - The Trilogy

In the event that you do manage to startle Sakuto:

Be prepared to get reflexively decked in the face

That being said though, Sakuto is on a break as his alter ego so he has no intention of protecting anybody today

He’d rather pace through the whole house by himself to get it through with

Sakuto finds it to be a waste of time

He’s a very busy man

He probably grimaces and grumbles a little at his big brother’s act

Maybe he picks on Kiyohito as well, setting him off

As mentioned earlier, he has a very productive conversation with Tsubaki

And to put it simply, he turns into a germaphobe 

He’s clutching onto a handkerchief in his pocket and using that whenever a ghost puts their hands on him

[“Hands off the merchandise!”]

you probably know who said that

He definitely asked for some disinfectant as soon he got out

Maybe even a new set of clothes

Sydney

(listen, she’s the true star of this title so obviously i couldn’t forget about her)

As mentioned with Taki, Sydney isn’t allowed to be here

But we have seen several times where she has bizarrely snuck out of the apartment building without dealing with any repercussions

It would be the same in this instance too.

Sydney would wander into the place without any knowledge that it was a haunted house

In contrast, the actors would be scared upon the sight of a live crocodile strolling around their building.

At first, they thought it was simply an animatronic reptile their company had brought in

They weren't sure why a haunted house would need a crocodile when the main focus were ghosts, zombies, vampires?

One of the zombies got bold and tried to frighten Sydney and obviously–

Sydney didn’t react very well to this

Taki, being the overprotective reptile mum that he is, considered suing the business for the emotional stress that Sydney had to endure

Thank you for that warning mods. This is my first fandom in a manga. I’m not very active but I’m following you and get notified when you post cause I love your fics. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and though this is not cancerous, it makes conceiving very difficult. I miscarried 4 years ago and until now we’ve been trying to get pregnant again but failed. I quit being a nurse cause every time I assist in delivering babies I just want to kill myself and die. So antis or not this is crossing

I’m sorry I’m still not used to this asks thing. There are fans here who are over 30 believe it or not. I’ve been very patient of seeing antis in the main tag cause I understand there are so many teenagers and young kids in this fandom. But wishing for a character to die and miscarry is beyond petty and pathetic.NOTHING IS STOPPING YOU FROM BEING AN ANTI BUT PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE MAIN TAG. The manga is already triggering in itself with all the topics and issues but when you see fans        

 That way you can’t help but feel drained. And thank you mods. I don’t know about others but you are the only blog who are brave enough to call out these people. Respect to you. Some blogs get angry about crosstagging but apathetic towards touka’s disgusting arts and tags.

First of all, thank you for giving me permission to post this.

I’m deeply sorry that you had to experience something so traumatic. I can’t even imagine that pain but I thank you for sharing your story. Often times, these people need to know that there is a face behind the people who they are hurting and that people have really experienced this kind of thing. Fictional characters are fictional characters, and we can all argue about that, who cares -- but it crosses a line when you joke about something that really affects people in this way.

And you don’t need to thank us -- I personally just can’t sit there and let someone do something vile like that without anyone saying something about it. Usually, it takes one person to open up the floodgates and people will be encouraged enough to make a stand against this person and people who think like them.
