#spent all day at a genealogy thingy#listened to 6 lectures#I listened to 5 and a half hours for genealogy methodology#and I was there longer bc the lectures had 10 minute breaks between them#except for one which had a 1hr break after it for lunch#i was the only one who stayed the whole time lol#it had helpful and interesting things#what was interesting to me is two people came for the ai centered lecture#one seemed confused and the other seemed…not like they were there to learn?#like ok when you want to learn you’re open and curious yknow#this lady. twasnt#this lady was challenging the video every 10 minutes 😭#she also thought ai could turn into an I robot situation and I wasn’t convinced when I was like that ain’t gonna happen sis#my biggest problems with ai are 1. theft and consent (lack thereof) 2. environmental impact#like. it has uses. autocorrect and grammarly for example.#the example I gave this lady was my great aunt was only taught cursive#nowadays kids are only taught print#so if she wants to read smt from a great niece or nephew…she can’t. bc it’s not cursive#ai can help that#like. ai can be used as a great tool and has accessibility potential#BUT THE THEFT#AND ENVIRONMENT#not to mention our ELECTRICITY BILLS#the first time in my life I defended ai#I don’t think there’s really anything out there that’s pure good/evil#just like with a lot of things (rx guns etc) ai needs moderation#anyways#yeah it was interesting to me a lady came to a lecture that was teaching us how ai can help our research#and girlie did not seem open to learning#at a place to learn
