*whispers* guys... My RomCom is... Good?
Me at the end of chapter 3 of waves of desire:
this is me if you don't FUCKING CARE
What’s the first thing I did when I came home from work?
Okay so a while ago I was using my folding fan because, ya know, it’s super hot right now. And I suddenly realized just how hecking amazing Crowley would look with a folding fan and a kimono. Like. He’s beautiful. He’d look good in anything. But like. Folding fan, kimono? So him (or her at the time).
So along the way I was like hey. wait. Crowley. In Geisha make-up???? Yes??? So I did it. It was actually really fun. I don’t really draw characters wearing make-up all that often, especially make-up as time-consuming as geisha make-up. But I think it turned out well, and I’m actually quite happy with it. Though part of it, including her little smirk, is hidden behind the fan.
I feel a little like I cheated? Cause I used four texture brushes in this drawing; one for the kimono, one for the obi, one for the fan, and one for the background. But isn’t that what they’re for? Fabric and patterns? Anyway, I think they worked out well. Maybe someday I’ll draw a kimono and draw every detail of a pattern. For now, texture brushes are a life-saver.
I didn’t really do any neat lineart past the sketch, except at the end where it really needed it, which made it interesting to color. There are always bits where you didn’t quite get the color all the way where it needed to be, but it also somehow makes it look cooler. But, well, yeah, this was super fun! I’m thinking of doing a companion piece for Aziraphale . . .
Crowley belongs to @neil-gaiman and Terry Pratchet (Rest in Peace), and is a character from the novel Good Omens as well as the TV adaptation. I drew the TV adaptation.
