Vox doesn't care about Valentino and Velvette.
Uuhh.. Don't you have whole post about how Vox shows affection, primarily towards those two specifically? Yes, yes I have, but that one clip from that one episode of Girl meets World taught me that a good debater has to be able to argue both sides and also I think the Fandom often portraits the Vee's relationship as more openly caring than it is in the actual show. This isn't a call-out btw, I do like to see them actually expressing that they care about each other, but it is almost entirely fanon at this point (at least for Vox).
Alright, now let's look at the evidence 🔍🤔
"Oh yeah, Valentino, here I go. Just another fucking day with Val. Hey hey hey, fuck my life."
This is our first glimpse into Vox and Val's relationship. Vox is clearly not happy about having to deal with Val. Another fucking day with Val is not a good day for Vox. Not really a nice way to talk about your partner, isn't it?
When he talks to Val, he's manipulative and condescending.
In the dressing room he tries to manipulate Val with sex. Given how confident he is that it's going to work and quickly Val responds to it, it seems like he has done this many times before.
The island language comment. I don't think I need to explain that one.
When Velvette tells Vox that Val is still pissed at him he doesn't care at all.
Vox doesn't respect Valentino. And affection without respect means nothing. This is not how you treat someone you care about.
We don't know how exactly the Vee's came together, but it seems to me that Vox specifically partnered with people he perceived as below him. People that had potential, but weren't a threat to him. Val's powers don't work on him and Velvette is much younger and new to the overlord bussines. He picked people he was sure he could manipulate and get to fall in line. He picked people that couldn't hurt him, like Alastor did. They are not equals and that's how Vox wants it.
Alastor's rejection had a big impact on Vox. He still surrounds himself with people to amasse power, but he has also put a lot of emotional distance between himself and the other Vees. He can't get hurt again, because they hold no emotional power over him. They are not friends. They are bussines partners. Assets that are useful to him. They can be betrayed and manipulated, he doesn't owe them his respect and he can boss them around however he likes.
"No more playing house, once they're devout, I won't need a squad"
Here, Vox is pretty blatantly telling us, I don't care about them, our whole relationship was just an act, I have been playing house the whole time.
I know, at this point he's kinda drunk on power and Alastor's constant jabs at his perceived weakness have gotten to him, but I still think that that's how Vox views the Vee's relationship.
In his mind, he really is just playing house.
