My Semi-Ideal Torchwood Reboot
Torchwood reboot 8-to-13 episodes where bad stuff happens with the rift or aliens (classic Torchwood shenanigans), and we meet up with Gwen, who, despite better judgment and Rhys telling her no, knows she has to do something.
But she's alone. Jack and everyone else are gone with no way to find him. Gwen needs help with all the bad stuff, so she goes to find Martha Jones, the only other person she knows she can trust. Gwen first goes to UNIT knowing that Martha works there only to discover she no longer does and UNIT now wants to know what is going on that has Gwen worried but she won't tell them and just lies.
Gwen eventually tracks down Martha, who is now retired from her freelance alien hunting and is strictly just a doctor. Martha, who is hesitant as she's not sure how much help she could be and no longer does this kind of stuff, agrees to join Gwen.
In the first episode, Gwen and Martha obviously save the day from whatever disaster is occurring but realize that it's not going to stop and that this isn't just a one-time thing and that in order for the earth to remain safe, they will have to bring back Torchwood. Of course, with trying to keep the reinstated "Torchwood" a secret specifically from UNIT, who will obviously want to handle things their way.
With Torchwood being back, they now need more help. Now this is where they could add some new original characters to join Martha and Gwen, which would be nice or, like always, Torchwood starts to not become as secret and word spreads that it is back, specifically to a certain support group, specifically to Yaz, who starts having an interest in this Torchwood business only to find nothing when researching it, but she manages to find something (I don't know what) that helps track down Gwen and Martha and she asks to join; Gwen is against it but when Yaz mentions the Doctor, Martha is on board, with Yaz joining Torchwood.
I think they should have at least two new original characters join; I think that would be great.
My thought is that by the last two episodes, UNIT joins them and they team up to take down whatever evil force is at play and in my perfect reboot, we would get Martha and Donna reuniting, with Donna mentioning the Doctor living with her and Martha finally getting the apology she deserves from him! and her flowers for all the hard work she did.
This is long but this would be my semi-ideal Torchwood reboot if they ever decide to bring it back. Thoughts? Opinions? Your ideal Torchwood reboot? would love to hear them.
Looking back, the RTD era have a very bad habit of burying its gays. More than half the confirmed LGBTQ characters who appeared throughout that era die and (with the exception of Jack) don’t come back.
thinking about clouds by imagine dragons in the context of lisaianto again
Here's a novel idea. Why don't we have LGBT characters who, wait for it, live happily ever after?
my favourite thing in fandom is when people go on about something/someone to the point where you - having previously not cared much either way - go right off that thing or person and eventually can’t stand the sight of them.
List 10 favorite characters (one per series/fandom) then tag 10 people
@horsemanofdeath tagged me to do this and it’s so hard!
Castiel (Supernatural)
Harvey Specter (Suits)
Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter)
Jack Harkness (Torchwood)
Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds)
Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock BBC)
Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal)
Tony Stark (MCU)
Rose Tyler (Doctor Who)
L (Death Note)
also; not tagging anyone cause this was too painful for me to try and choose, but it was also fun so if you want to do it, then i tag you.
I don't understand stand why more people don't like Torchwood, you've got your Doctor Who spinoff except for older audiences, really Welsh and with just a TON of gays
