The Stages of Grief
MCU characters + sleeping habits, for writers and others
Tony: Insomnia as a fact of life. Tries to avoid sleep as much as possible, partly because he´s a workaholic, partly because of his fear of nightmares. Might occasionally faint in the middle of a workshop binge (never on a mission) after 90 hours of staying awake, prompting Bruce or Happy to carry him to the nearest couch and lecture him as soon as he wakes up.
Steve: Gets the sleep of the righteous. Deep, peaceful, often with a smile on his face. Probably the only Avenger with a regular sleeping rhythm and no problems with insomnia.
Nat: Doesn´t sleep. Or: Noone who has ever seen her sleeping is still alive to talk about it. There was a month where Tony would sneak up at her at odd times every night, just to find her sitting on the window silk, wide awake and watching the city.
Clint: Long history of missions that taught him to catch naps whenever and wherever possible. Never lets himself sleep too deep, always stays alert and ready to fight within seconds if necessary. The only exception is when he is at home with Laura.
Bruce: Learnt to doze with any amount of noise around him when he was in Kolkata. Likes to lie down at odd places (in the quinjet storeroom, under Tony´s lab bench,...). Curls into himself protectively, the tension never quite leaving his face.
Bucky: Gets even worse nightmares than Tony, and often has a hard time disinguishing reality from his dreams. It´s a little easier for him to fall asleep when Steve is around.
Peter: Too excited to rest before missions, but will slumber like a baby once the fight is over. Looks much younger and more vulnerable in these moments, prompting everyone to shower him with blankets and affection.
