I think the illness is officially under control because after having a very disorienting nap I managed to get down to the river where I did what I do best: crawled feet first into the underbrush and laid down on the ground watching the dogwoods until the sun set

Sam’s hurt again. Cas says prayer is a sign of faith. Maybe that what Dean thinks of when he decides to pray to the other angels too. He can’t count on Cas to come.

Trust is a two way street and Cas didn’t trust him and so now he’s pissed. no. not pissed. Hurt.  Why did that hurt so damn much? It only works if he means it. What if he doesn’t mean it right now? Or what is he doesn’t forgive Dean for the way he talked to him? "Yeah, you always do.” “Yeah, well, you know, even banged up, Sammy comes through.” “We don't need your help.”

"Cas, are you there? Sammy's hurt. He's hurt, uh – he's hurt pretty bad. And, um... I know you think that I'm pissed at you, okay? But I don't care that the angels fell. So whatever you did or didn't do, it doesn't matter, okay? We'll work it out. Please, man, I need you here... Screw it. Okay, listen up. This one goes out to any angel with their ears on. This is Dean Winchester... And I need your help.”  (x)

Dean’s in Purgatory. Emotions rise the the surface here, feel more raw. He’d spent a year knowing Cas was dead, for him; seeing Cas be a shell of his former self, for him; and then Cas faced oblivion, again, for him. He’s spent a year looking for him in this place, sleeping next to a vampire. He could leave, but not without him. He prays to him every night. (x)

Cas came back. He came back but he disappeared again. Dean stops praying to him, at least consciously, at least when he can help it. The bastard chose to stay behind, and now he’s gone. So Dean stopped praying.

But something is wrong with Sam.

"I need you to hear me. For all that we've been through, I'm asking you. keep a lookout for my little brother, okay?  Where the hell are you, man?”

Cas comes. Cas hurts him. Cas wasn’t in control. Dean doesn’t pray for awhile. (x)

He’s back. He’s back but Cas isn’t. He’s back but he left Cas behind. He does it almost out of habit. But what can he even say? Cas isn’t here and it’s all his fault. “I’m sorry.” “I wasn’t strong enough” “Can you even hear me?” (x)
