Nothing says tension louder than absolute silence. At least if there were an argument there’d be some sense of resolution? Not in an absolute sense, but at least, on the surface, it sounds like they’re trying to come to a conclusion.

These two siblings are not coming to a conclusion. Absolutely because there is no end to satisfy. The means are the means and after the younger has her way that’ll be and she’ll just move on to the next bit. There is no end for her.

But, god, is he praying for an end. Something, anything that could alleviate him from this hell. If it be death, he’s even likely to go with that.

Alexander is losing his humanity. Spending more time as that creature than as himself, he’s lost his sense of reality, his desire to resist and oppose command.

And she doesn’t quite see that. She sees this whole notion as protecting her brother. She can’t seem to grasp the fact that his entire being is dissipating from under him. And she has to wonder: does she care? In a sick sense, she’d always regarded him as some sort of Perseus. And the fact that she can get Perseus to heel and obey is some sort of feat of strength. She’s stronger than him. She always has been.

And now all he has to look forward to is another ‘mission’. Another chance for her to send him after mostly innocent people. It wasn’t enough to kill just one, he usually ends up killing everyone around then too. It leaves a bitter taste in a person’s mouth that you don’t really get used to.

“Shouldn’t you be excited?” Nadia prods. They’re lodged in warehouse prepping for the next stage of her plan. “You’re running out of ‘clients’.”

“There will always be more people to kill,” he answers solemnly. “As long as I am with you there will be.”

She doesn’t answer, too busy tending to some equipment or too disillusioned to acknowledge his empty state of being. But even more so, she’s distracted by a tiny alarm set off on her radar. Someone’s here, and she doubts they’re friendly if they’re encroaching on her base of operations.

“Sit tight, big brother,” she glances to him across the room. He nods vacantly. “If things get sticky I might spring a sudden change on you, so just bunker down and expect the worst.”

She hardly gives him a farewell or a stay safe. She just makes her way from the room and abandons him to himself.

as i dig into my mind i see that the past is no longer apart of me now. i saw your blue eyes i used to stare into so deeply. i saw so much wonder in those eyes, shining like the blue of the night sky down on all of the world to see. and my reflection stayed planted in them for many months, until all of a sudden they no longer found rest in those tiny pupils. for awhile i didn't know where to find rest, and i rummaged around in the middle of no where to find something. a something. a reason to wake up in the morning, because my reason had been taken from me.

a year has passed in our goodbye, and i found your number in an old notebook and called you up to see how you were doing. since then i've seen you many times and i find no more reason to feel the lines on your hand and memorize the details of your fingertips. i find that you no longer have a place in my heart, you only have one in my memory and as i think of all this i realize that when you leave the past behind, the past leaves you behind, too- even if both pasts want to hold on to the pieces left so badly. like that photo album you wrote paragraphs of love to me on. it's no longer in my home, it's off somewhere traveling at the speed of light far far away from here. and i think that's exactly where i wanted it to be.

there are many words that my index fingers are wanting to say and as i try to condense all the things in my brain i also realize that i'm happy. that i didn't let myself be happy for so long. and not because i couldn't be, but because i succombed to that terrible man's assumptions that told me i was nothing but dust blowing in the wind. but i find that i am much more than that. that i am a light in someone's life, maybe in more than ones'. and that i may not be the smartest, prettiest, coolest, and i may not make the best choices.. but that i am me. and that if i'm not me, who the hell will be?

life breathes love into us, and it's our choice it breathe it out and onto the flowers growing in the fields and the trees that provide shade from the heat beating down on our necks. because we are specks on this planet, we are little pieces of a puzzle and i think if you looked at everything all at once from afar, you'd see we all fit perfectly in the places that we are.
