🍓 Even years after Emma’s Tranquility is reversed, she only rarely feels shame or embarrassment, and in most situations doesn’t understand why people expect her to feel them. Sometimes, though, since she also doesn’t really understand why other people DO get embarrassed until she’s seen them do it, she can be pretty mortifyingly embarrassing. She’ll remember that something embarrassed a particular person before and avoid the same situation later, but chances are pretty good she’s going to want to know why first. She also has next to no qualms talking about just about anything if she sees a need to do so, even if it turns the person she’s talking to about it beet red. She does mean well, though. Not being embarrassed of her mistakes means she’s able to accept having made them, and subsequently learn what she can from it, which she couldn’t do if she let herself dwell on the fact that she did the shameful or embarrassing thing in the first place.
🍓 It’s well known throughout the brothel that despite being one of the kindest and most patient people they know, Silver is capable of being a spectacularly petty bastard. Not in any way that’s going to actually hurt anyone, especially not himself or anyone else at the brothel, but he is definitely not above using his considerable wealth and vast repository of intimate knowledge of most of Minrathous to inconvenience people who annoy or disrespect him and his people. Some examples:
He’s left several conspicuous hickeys.
He bought an entire shipment of Antivan coffee favored by a patron - the only shipment for several weeks to months - and made sure to have some made whenever that patron would visit, but only so they could smell it - and he would deny smelling anything at all when they asked about it.
He owns a gorgeous set of deep lapis lazuli blue silk robes he commissioned from an elven tailor after buying the entire stock of a specific silk or a specific dye from all of the higher society tailors in the city and selling it to that elven tailor for a pittance so that a particular Magister he knew favored that fabric in that color wouldn’t be able to find it. They would have the fabric but not the dye, or the dye but not the fabric. He only wears that set of robes around that particular Magister.
He once made a stalactite out of ice inside of his wardrobe, which he’d pushed closer to the fireplace, and placed a metal bowl under it so it would make loud dripping noises coming from apparently nowhere while a patron he knew really, really hates that sound would be there.
A regular patron came in quite a bit too drunk and not heavy enough in the pockets, so Silver politely refused to sleep with him but offered him an empty room to sleep it off rather than staggering home and getting into worse trouble. He eventually passed out, and Silver, already in a bit of a Mood and quite done with this man’s shit for the night, took his clothes and left them in the sauna for a few hours so that they’d be damp and sticky when he went to put them back on. Silver blamed it on the nonexistent ‘summer humidity’ making him sweat more than normal and lamented the difference in size between them that sadly prevented him from offering a spare shirt and pants to wear home.
🍓 Rexus was the patron in the last example. He believed him without a second thought, and to this day doesn’t know that horrible wet clothes incident was something Silver did on purpose. For all his skepticism and looking for hidden meanings between people’s words, as well as his constant attempts to annoy the shit out of everyone and the fact that he knows full well that Silver pulls this kind of shit all the time with people who irritate him, Rexus has always considered him the most trustworthy person he’s ever met and believed every word he says. Because, aside from throwing his clothes in a sauna because his drunken bullshit finally got on his nerves, Silver is the only person who’s always been honest with him.
Also he just doesn’t believe Silver would let him know he’s annoyed by doing something he knows Silver knows he knows Silver does when he’s annoyed.
