So....there's a new disgusting mod to report on Nexus.
Not only does it whitewash every single companion of color, which is already more than worth the report, the mod also uses AI art to replace the companion tarot cards and steals content from other modders, at least one of which is in the comments on the mod saying that they didn't consent to the use of their mod for this abomination.
We cannot tolerate this racism in our fandom.

So most of my energy lately has been going towards building props for Minileo’s winterguard and cleaning up after building props for Minileo’s winterguard, and they are COOL af, but I DID actually manage to write a little bit in between all that despite the foam dust and burnt fingertips!
This is set just after the meeting with the First Warden at the Cobbled Swan, when there isn’t much left to do but wait for a reply from the Wardens Harding is contacting and Rex has some time to just be home again.
It wasn't that he'd turned down Neve's offer of company because he didn't want it - quite the opposite, if he was being honest with himself - but because having Neve's company meant giving her Rook's, and since about five minutes after they'd first stepped through the eluvian Rook had found himself yearning, desperately, to walk the streets of Minrathous again as Rexus. To move through, observe, and melt into the city the way one does in a place that is deeply, intimately home: taking shortcuts perfected over decades longer than Falx Verus Mercar was meant to have existed and mapped in his mind alone, distinguishing which turns led him to pleasant smells and familiar faces and which avoided them, which routes had the best places to shelter from the rain, which were blessedly free of templars but rife with pickpockets and vice versa. A thousand and one ways to go from anywhere on the island to anywhere else and every little thing he'd find along the way, right down to which of the ancient cobbles would trip him if he wasn't looking and which would not. To once more belong there in that place like 'Rook' never would.

Had the idea for this as a tag meme, so I threw something together!
I've tried to limit this list to things I think are likely to be considered crimes in at least some parts of Thedas. Obviously, we don't know much canonically about Thedosian law, and laws and their enforcement are bound to differ from country to country, so just use your best judgment as to whether you think a certain crime applies to your character. Feel free to edit or add to the list as you see fit!
Disclaimer: I don't endorse the modern incarceration system, nor do I believe all the actions I've listed should be considered criminal offenses or carry equal moral weight. If anything, part of the point here is to illustrate the injustices of the legal system by examining how our own OCs could be cast as criminals. You can choose to fill it out from the perspective of the law or the perspective of your character, who may not feel that some of their 'crimes' are crimes at all.

Almost all of Aristide's criminal charges are a consequence of their abolition work with the Shadow Dragons. As we know from the conversation with the First Warden, Shadow Dragon Rook is canonically wanted for "murder, theft, and destruction of property," which Rook clarifies is referring to the freeing of enslaved persons and the slaying of those who enslaved them. Going through this list gave me some fun ideas about missions Ari might've completed for the Shadows, and their high jinks along the way, hahah.
As for the blasphemy and drug possession, that was just some good old fashioned fun (;

I've included a basic definition of each term below the cut, in case anyone needs a reference. Please note, however, that I'm not a lawyer; I beg you not to use this post as a source of legally accurate information.
My definitions here have been paraphrased in layman's terms, and I've combined some similar crimes for brevity.
Aiding and abetting: Helping someone else commit a crime, or helping them avoid being caught after committing a crime.
Adultery: Sexual intercourse between a married person and someone who is not their lawful spouse.
Apostasy: In Southern Thedas, the act of existing as a mage outside the authority of the Chantry.
Arson: Intentionally setting fire to a building or other property to cause damage.
Assassination: A specific kind of murder, which involves killing a targeted person for political or religious reasons.
Assault: A general term for physically attacking another person.
Blackmail: Coercing someone by threatening to reveal embarrassing or damaging information.
Blasphemy: Showing active contempt, disrespect, or lack of reverence toward the Maker or other deity or sacred object.
Bribery: Offering (or accepting) payment in exchange for influence with a government official or employee.
Cannibalism: The consumption of human (or elven/dwarven/Qunari) flesh.
Counterfeiting: Creating fake items or fake currency and presenting them as genuine.
Desertion: Abandoning a military post without permission.
Disorderly conduct: A general term for "unruly" public behavior, often used as a catch-all to arrest a person who hasn't committed any other actual crime. Includes public fighting, public intoxication, making "unreasonable" noise, using "obscene" language, and causing risk or inconvenience to other people.
Drug possession: Being caught in possession of illegal drugs, whether you've personally used them or not.
Drug trafficking: Manufacturing and selling illegal drugs to others.
Enslavement: The kidnapping, trafficking, sale, purchase, or ownership of a person with intent to treat them as property and exploit them for labor without compensation.
Espionage: The act of spying, often on behalf of a government or other organization, to obtain secret or confidential information.
Extortion: Gaining profit or information through the use of force, coercion, threats of violence against the victim or the victim's loved ones, or threats of harm to the victim's reputation.
Forgery: Creating fake documents, or signing another person's signature without authorization.
Fraud: Intentional deception or misrepresentation of oneself, one's assets, or one's situation for financial or personal gain.
Grave robbery: The desecration of a burial site to steal valuables or human remains.
Heresy: Holding or advocating a belief or theory that opposes the official teachings of the Chantry.
Hijacking: Unlawfully seizing a vehicle or ship by force while in transit.
Illegal gambling: Operating a gambling enterprise that is not legally sanctioned by the government.
Impersonation: A specific type of fraud, which involves pretending to be someone you are not for financial or personal gain, or to gain unauthorized access. Includes identity theft and stolen valor (impersonating a soldier).
Insurrection: Attempting to overthrow the government or revolt against civil authority.
Jailbreaking: Forcibly escaping from prison or helping others escape from prison.
Kidnapping: Unlawfully abducting or imprisoning another person.
Maleficary: Okay, I made up this term because as far as I know, the word "maleficar" only refers to the accused and not the act itself. In any case, maleficary includes any abuse of magic, including but not limited to blood magic.
Manslaughter: Unintentionally causing the death of another person.
Mass murder: The intentional killing of multiple victims during a single incident.
Money laundering: Concealing the origins of money obtained through criminal activities by making it appear legitimate.
Murder: The intentional killing of another person, whether premeditated or in an unplanned moment of violence.
Obstruction of justice: Efforts to impede the investigation of a crime or thwart a lawful authority, including interfering with law enforcement or court proceedings, obstructing an ongoing investigation, destroying or concealing evidence, committing perjury, etc.
Piracy: An act of robbery on the high seas, which often also involves hijacking.
Public indecency: Exposing oneself or engaging in sexual behavior in a public place. Includes public nudity, public sex, and exhibitionism. Historically IRL, public indecency has been used to charge LGBTQ+ individuals with a crime simply for existing in public. I'm not sure that's likely to happen in Thedas, but I wanted to mention it.
Rioting: A violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd of people. A charge sometimes used to suppress legitimate protests.
Robbery: A specific type of theft that involves the use or threat of force.
Sabotage: Intentionally destroying or damaging equipment, weapons, or buildings to hinder the success of an enemy or competitor.
Serial murder: The intentional killing of two or more victims in separate incidents over a period of time.
Sex work: Offering sexual services in exchange for payment. Not sure if this one is likely to be considered a crime in Thedas, but I included it here for anyone who thinks it applies to their character.
Sexual assault: Any non-consensual sexual act, including situations where the victim cannot consent.
Smuggling: The illegal transportation of goods, substances, information, or people into or out of a country.
Theft: Taking another person's property or money without consent. In Tevinter, the act of freeing an enslaved person without the enslaver's consent is considered theft.
Terrorism: The use of violence or threats of violence to intimidate or coerce a government or group, often to achieve political or ideological goals by inducing fear in the population.
Torture: Inflicting severe pain or suffering on someone as a punishment, or to force them to say or do something.
Treason: Betraying one's home country, especially by joining or aiding its enemies in war.
Trespassing: Knowingly entering or remaining on another person's property without permission.
Vandalism: Intentionally defacing, damaging, or destroying public or private property.

Yeah, it was predictably easier to pick the crimes Rex hasn’t committed, since between his old life as a frumentarius, his new life working with Silver/Sen and later the Shadow Dragons, and just being himself, he is quite the crimebag. Of course most of it was in an official capacity and on behalf of his employer, but there are a precious few that were all him. I wouldn’t say he’s faced consequences, really, at least not in any official judicial sense (the one time he did was actually for a murder he didn’t commit, his brother did and framed him for it), but some of them do weigh on him at times. Others, he’s quite proud of them.
The important thing to take away here is not the difference in the amount of crimes, but that Adrian is much, MUCH better at getting away with things than Rex is. Not only was he the most famous and sought-after courtesan in Tevinter for about 15 years, he’s been funding or directly participating in clandestine abolition work for half of his life and never even been suspected, let alone charged. I probably could have also put public indecency for him but much to the Archon’s dismay, it’s not actually a crime to distract members of the Magisterium by wearing outfits that show off his chest every session.
