headcanon of the day: I think Anders always sorta liked cats, but it was during his one year confinement after the sixth escape attempt, when the only company he had was a cat, that he really grew to love those fuzzyballs. 

and sometimes I think that the cat was possessed after a particular bad day for Anders. Maybe he was bullied by Templars, maybe beaten, maybe he was starving for a couple of days now. Anders’ emotions and the suffering around the confinement cells made the Veil weak. There’s just so much anger there, so much fury over the injustices that the cat was the easiest host.
