when im listening to music and all of a sudden “girls” by girl in red comes on and suddenly im 13 again, hiding under the covers looking at wlw couples on pinterest and feeling the buzz in my stomach that i never felt for boys. suddenly im 13 again and im listening to girl in red in my airpods and trying on flannels and trying desperately to look around for other girls like me anywhere out in public.
when i listen to “girls” by girl in red and all of a sudden im a tweenager lost in her own queerness, feeling that buzz and knowing she won’t be able to repress those feelings anymore.
